The Hobbit - Reference to Elder Scrolls? Vice Versa?

Post » Thu Jul 29, 2010 8:16 am

Now when Peter Jackson got out his latest video log, regarding the Hobbit, I just can't see the big reference from elder scrolls - of course it comes from the books, but that troll is so similar to those in oblivion!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqzJ1LFh6x0 go around the 2 minute mark, you will see a troll hand.

I already got chills:D

I didn't see any thing troll-ish around the 2 minute mark. Besides, trolls in the Hobbit were big dumb human-esque giants, more like the cyclopes from The Oddessy.

An Oblivion troll is a huge beast-like creature that attacks with its claws, a Tolkien troll is like a gigantic orc (but even dumber). In The Hobbit the trolls talk, cook mutton, and bag up pesky dwarves.

They could not possibly be more different.

It wasn't on the 2 minute mark, I don't have the video at the moment but somewhere where they say like "make it look not so humanish" It's like a troll makeuping some greeny stuff..

It actually sounds kinda funny when you think of them as forum trolls.

the 2 minute mark was the costume department (aka: outfits made of fabric/leather), the only thing at the 2 minute mark that could come close to what your talking about was just a bolt of green fabric

You realize The Elder Scrolls (especially Oblivion) is heavily influenced by LOTR right? and not the other way around. Tolkien was around long before games my friend.

Exactly what I was going to post until I scrolled down.

But yea, I don't think that the Hobbit does/will have any references to TES.
