In this moment something happened that was extremely rare, Though it happened often to other people, it was something that Sara did not usually experience. In this moment, Sara was confused. She needed a little time to come up with something that would work, and the colonel was about to become scarce. Did he not understand what was going to happen to him? Sara could not believe her ears.
"Sir I must protest this. I can't be one hundred per cent sure that I can come up with something in that short of a time I?" Sara stopped herself before she made an ass of herself any further. There could only be one explanation for it. He had his orders.
"I'm sorry sir. If you will excuse me, I will attend to that other matter." Sara didn't wait for a response and went out the door. She wanted to kick herself. Sara had reacted without thinking things through. She was worried that if something happened to the colonel, she wouldn't be long for this world.
Sara made her way to the science labs, stopping at her room before heading to Sorein's office. While there, she changed into her lab uniform, and grabbed a small case of syringes containing different concoctions, one of which she removed and placed up her sleeve. Sara walked the corridors until she reached the door to his office. She knocked at the door, which was closed with the shade drawn, and waited for a response.
"I'm very busy right now. Come back later." With that Sara entered the office, closing the door behind her.
"Doctor Sorein, it's been a while," Sara walked forward smiling and extended a hand.
"As I said, I'm sorry but I'm very busy at the moment." Sorein had a serious look on his face.
"Doctor I'm here about you implant research. I understand that you are looking for people to test it on." Sara sat down in a chair in front of the desk and smiled.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize. Well perhaps if you came to the lab in about an hour and we can -" Sara jumped in and cut him off.
"That's the reason I came her first doctor. I wanted to see the specs for the implant, and I assumed that you would have them on your computer here in your office. Please doctor, it will only take a minute." Sara had that pleading look again, though her tone was professional.
"Oh alright, come around here then." Sorein smiled and started typing on the terminal. Sara got up from the chair and moved around the desk behind Sorein. As she positioned herself behind him, she let the syringe fall from her sleeve and into her hand. "Now as you can see here, the device actually grafts -" Sara wasn't listening. She had brought her hands behind her back and removed the cap from the needle. No sooner had she done this then her hand brought the needle around, jamming it into the back of Sorein's head. He didn't have any time to react as Sara injected him with the compound that would paralyze him temporarily, and make him far easier to handle, should she not find out everything she needed form the terminal. Sara gently lowered his head onto the desk and moved him over do she had easy access to the terminal.
As Sorein had already logged in, Sara didn't need the password, even though the colonel had already given it to her. This was something she felt was a little strange, if the colonel already had access to the computer, why did she need to go and read the files. It seemed as if this was becoming more and more like a game of chess, and the king was making a bold move. It didn't take long for Sara to find the files on the disease. She browsed through them quickly, having already read them. These were the files the colonel had already given her, except for one. She could only presume this was the new file he had sent her from his office.
Sara thought about this for a nit. There was something she was missing. And it had to be on the computer. Of couse when the paralysis wore off, she could ask Sorein. But until then she had some work to do. Sara began to type code into the computer. Moving through every subsystem. Looking through every file. Her eye lit up as she found the locked and poorly hidden file. She first used the password the colonel had given her and found that it would not open. Sara began to hack her way into the folder. It didn't take long, and she started to read. Sara's face turned to one of anger the more she read. She didn't like what she had found and that it seemed that the colonel may have not been completely forthcoming with her. Srar sent a copy of the file to her terminal, and then erased all traces of her entry into the computer. She moved Soein back over to where he originally was, and then removed a syringe form the case.
"Well doctor, I think I have all I need. It has been a pleasure visiting with you. I have to say that I am truly sorry to have to take your life/ You truly are a gifted scientist." Sara was smiling and her voice was melodic.
"You can take some comfort in knowing that your death will not cause you any pain. The drug I am going to inject you with will cause you to have a stroke." Sara giggled. "Though that will probably hurt like hell." Sara pushed the needle into the back of his neck and pushed the plunger.
