(I am sorry, but this will be my last post in the RP. It’s been a great time, good luck with the rest of it.)
Greg turned to the Brotherhood soldier, “What do you think about all this.” The soldier turned and snickered, “I still want to blow you to pieces. By the way, the name’s Jen.”
“As do a lot of people,” Greg sighed. He placed his rifle down and took out another Rising Eagle and injected it. His body began shaking violently for a moment, and then calmed down. He knew he shouldn’t be taking more than one per day, but he needed the support.
He turned back to Jen and the computer, checking the routes here. As they did, a loud fizzling sound came from somewhere. “Open up the feed to where the tank is,” Greg quickly responded. The room popped into view, showing the tank surrounded by what looked like electricity. Jen was the first to stand up and say, “The mission was a success! We have disabled the tank.”
Cheers erupted from the Enclave and Brotherhood. Greg removed his helmet, looking at the happiness of the crowd. He turned to Jen, who had also removed her helmet. She looked no older than twenty, a mere teenager.
Greg turned back to the screen, watching the tank. As he did, he noticed a part of the duct fell to the ground, Sara spilling out and hitting the tank. He motioned his head towards Jen, who had also been watching. “We have to help her!” Jen yelled out. Greg nodded, picking up his rifle. “Let’s move.”
He and Jen stormed down the corridors, finally reaching the door that held the tank and Sara. “There will probably be Resistance guarding the area, we have to get Sara and pull out, understand?” Jen nodded, loading her rifle.
Greg opened the door, moving back behind the door. The door slid back, revealing the tank. “Remember, don’t shoot the damn thing,” Greg whispered. They crouch walked in and moved quickly and as silent as could be. They reached the side of the tank, listening to the hatch open. A resistance member popped out and looked around. He cursed and mumbled at what could have just happened.
Greg placed a finger to his lips, showing Jen to be silent. He watched as the Resistance member plopped back into the tank, shouting at the others in the tank. He slowly began his way began his way to the other side of the tank. He saw Sara there, lying on the floor in pain. He placed a hand on her shoulder whispering, “I’m going to get you out of her.” He placed her in his arms, moving as silent as he could back behind the tank. He motioned for Jen to follow him back to the door.
They were about halfway there when he heard a shout behind them. “Stop moving, lay down your arms!” Greg turned his head around, seeing a Resistance member looking right at them. “Dammit, run for it!” He ran as fast as he could with Sara in his arms, breathing hard. He felt a bullet penetrate his back, lodging itself in him. He screamed in pain and fell down, dropping Sara.
Jen noticed Greg at the corner of her eye and turned back, running over to where he lay. Jen helped Sara to her feet, helping her back to the door. Greg took out his rifle and started shooting, being wary of the tank. He yelled again as another bullet flew into his side, causing him to drop his weapon. He yelled back to Jen, “Fall back! Get out of here now!”
A soldier walked up to him, pistol in hand. “I’m going to enjoy this, Enclave bastard.” Greg watched as he raised the pistol, aiming it at Greg’s chest. He saw as the soldier slid his finger onto the trigger. He watched as he pulled it.
Greg stared wide eyed at the soldier, hearing a shout from behind him, calling his name. He tasted a bit of blood in his mouth, and then fell over. The soldier turned around, leaving Greg to die. Greg pulled out a holotape and began the recording with a dying voice. “Sara, I have faith in you to end this. End the Resistance, get rid of this damn tank.” He sighed, “Sara, thank you for being there for me, I won’t forget it wherever I go next. My dying words go to you, Sara. Don’t make that a mistake.” He stopped, thinking on how he should end it, “Sara…. I love you, goodbye.”
He placed the tape next to him and closed his eyes, ready for death’s embrace. He slowly started to halt his breathing, taking a final breath before leaving the world. He said his final words, “I am ready to go now, it is my time.” He stopped there, he stopped doing anything. He was gone. He was dead.
