The horned "Dragon Born" Helmet

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2011 5:30 am

About the "Dragon Born" Helmet.. We see it everywhere. It's in every trailer, in every picture, in every ad, game play movie, hell, its even in the background of this very forum.

Personally I'm quite tired of it. To the point that I might not even have my character wear that helmet.. Ever. So I was wondering what everyone else thought of it. Are you tired of it? Are you indifferent? Is it the best thing since six? Tell me what you think.

It's Nordic and exemplifies the gritty, Conan-inspired theme of Skyrim. I personally am a bit bored of seeing the same character model over and over again, but I'm glad they aren't spoiling all the surprises of the different armor types ahead of time.

I'm not touching that helmet with a ten foot pole. I won't use it at all either even if ten foot poles aren't in Skyrim. I'll probably avoid Riverwood and the golden claw quest for a good time after I start the game as well.

It is distinctive and a nice design, especially for use in advertising the game and setting it apart from Oblivion and Morrowind and emphasizing the Nordic nature of the new setting. That said, I am tired of it, but I never planned on having my Nord Archer/Thief wear it anyway. But for a warrior, why not?

I think it looks a bit lame .. and the fact that it's being shown everywhere makes me even less inclined to wear it.

Cool to have but I don't intend on wearing helmets at all unless I just have to for defense.

It certainly fits the character and sets the mood of the game. I like it, but will remove it when I sleep (less I gouge my wife's eye out).

I really don't know what to say... It's just for the ads and trailers and whatnot, if they have a different guy, some people wouldn't know it's Skyrim

The stats would have to be gamebreakingly overpowered at this point to be worth wearing, and even then I wouldn't

I love it, simply because I always chose a Nord as my character in the previous games, so it just fits nicely :)

As soon as I find it in game I shall wear it with grace.
Truly an extraordinary piece of headwear!

Its cool but I personally wouldn't be wearing it. Not going to spend all that time on my face then put a helmet on  no but really, just not a big deal to me, but it will be nice to see NPCs with it.

I really don't care much about the whole helmet "issue". It's a good helmet when it comes to promoting the tone and setting of the game and it's nice that they aren't spoiling all the armor sets just because some people are tired of seeing the horned helmet and want their precious variation.

It looks nice, but I've already seen it so much that it's getting old here. :P It's definitely the signature emblem of Skyrim though.

If our characters spawn into the game wearing that helmet my first action will be to take it off.

My gameplay would consist of this:

*acquired "promotional dragonborn" helm*

*Wear "promotional dragonborn" helm*

"heheh... dragonborn"

*Take off "promotional dragonborn" helm*

*Sell "promotional dragonborn" helm*

Other people I know thought it was silly looking too. I don't get how people can get tired of it, or think it is silly when it's a fantasy helmet.. It's been around since Daggerfall... who cares. It's a helmet.. in a game..

If you don't like it, don't wear it.

I wish I could rep you for you seem to be the most optimistic person on this forum, as far as I know.

And the helmet is awesome indeed.

I think the first chance I get, I'm taking it off and throwing it in a river.
