The 24 hour challenge

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:53 am

I was expecting a "buy the game and don't play it for 24 hours" that's a challenge.

I'll try to go as long as possible, I just hope my 360 can last 24 straight hours. I'll probably do around 12-16 hours 1st day with a couple half an hour break to check the current events of the day and to give my mind a break. Skyrim's awesome but if your dead it doesn't matter.

Ha! I'll give it a go, but I do like my sleep. OP should make a thread after the 11th where everyone posts how long they lasted or something (but be honest!).

@Terror Of Death - I didn't even think about that. There's a chance my Xbox will give up before I do.

Beer and cigarettes are all the fuel I need.

This is supposed to be a challenge?

Try it without those namby pamby energy drinks and see how long you last.

You know what's more of a challenge?
Get the game on release day, but don't play it for 48 hours. You can open the box, stroke the disc and whatever else, but not play it.
That's a real challenge.

I'm not going to be able to play until the 15th anyway, so challenge accepted.

Playing marathon sessions tends to ruin a game for me. I play 8 hours every night, then a few nights in I get burned out and stop playing altogether. I find it's best when I limit myself to a few hours a day - then the desire to play stays and I get more overall enjoyment out of it.

(sorry for the serious answer to the silly question)

^ This. Playing too much would make it get boring fast and all the quests be gone just as fast.

Not to be the mom of the boards or anything, but please remember to get up and stretch every once in a while if you're going to do a marathon, okay? I'd hate to see the "Pulmonary embolisms claim lives of dozens of gamers in wake of Skyim release" headline. Remember to stretch your legs, peeps.

When I get my game at midnight, I'm going home and playing it for 24 hours straight. I'm going Midnight to Midnight. I'm going to equip my self with 5 hour energies, pizza, and pepto bismal. Who's with me?

24-hours is for lightweights. I'll be doing at least 36, if not 48 or more hour stint.

EDIT: Of course there will have to be time factored in for food, drink, waste removal, etc...

I recently played SW:TOR for 34 hours straight with a bud from the guild I was in..

I don't think I will be doing that again, I was dead at work when I had to go back.

So...you're from the future?! That game only comes out in 2012 :P

On topic, I wouldn't mind doing it but I'd do several pauses for eating and resting though...which would shorten the 24h for a while :P I won't do it though, I'll play it for some solid 8 hours though, I don't wanna spoil too much in one day.

Uhh, before you guys get too excited about the 'challenge' go check out what people do when new online RPGs come out. Just wait till diablo3 comes out and you'll see some serious poopsocking records. 55 hours straight is nothing and will be accomplished by thousands of people.

I'm pretty sure the OP isn't trying to break any record, just have some fun. BTW 24h is already ridiculous, 48h and forward is just stupid, it's unhealthy, you'll be in terrible conditions and you won't even be properly enjoying the game you're playing

Do you have any decent links? Not doubting you, just genuinely interested to see what people get up to. The most I've ever managed was maybe 10 hours and I never knew it was a common thing to rack up something like 55 hours. Surely sleep deprivation just ruins it after a while?

Anyone how would use diapers to play longer is an idiot. This cheap biker meth I have keeps me awake and severely constipated for days.

Way ahead of you. Already ordered a feeding tube and a colostamy bag from eBay.

Rofl the comments in this thread = win XD

Usually I have to take sleeping pills to fall asleep anyway so a Java Monster and some snacks should keep me in good shape. Well not literally :vaultboy:
I'm not (wo)man enough to play for 24 hours straight but I'm gonna shoot for 12 so I can get ahead of my bro.
Nov. 11th is perfect, don't gotta worry about class that day. :celebration:
