I don't see the similarity with atoms and human emotions though.
I'm sure there is a link between the two but its too much for us to comprehend or need someone with a bit more time and knowledge on the brain chemicals, atoms, elemental bonds, etc to research it. And probably many other things would tie into it aswell.
This is really an odd topic to debate about. It depends on how you see life I guess. Funny thing is, I was watching this show a while back ( I forget the name, it was on Discovery) and it talked about how more and more scientists are starting to believe that maybe things do happen for a set reason, and something about positive thinking to. Like i said, really something wierd to comprehend if you REALLY think in depth about it.
Eww. Fate. Thanks, but no thanks. Don't believe in fate really, things happen for no reason whatsoever, bad things or good things can happen to anyone at anytime for any reason.
What did I ever do to you?
Jokes aside, I have to agree. The concept of fate isn't one I agree with.
Meh, I feel like we weave our own fate, for the most part. Other forces outside our control will always be there, but choice is, on some fundamental level, not an illusion.
EDIT: No such thing as peaks and valleys. Bad does not always follow good. Good does not always follow bad. You cannot chart your life.
@ Defaulted It's not necessarily following as it is a break otherwise it 's a never ending road with one or the other. In my OP I asked if causing a misfortune that you can fix could disrupt this pattern of 'out of the blue' moments of misfortune

If maybe things do happen for a set reason, positive thinking (or negative thinking) would thus have no meaning. The idea that things happen in a set way (determinism) goes against the idea that positive or negative thinking would change anything. Of course, one could be pre-set to thinking in a positive or negative way. But that is where determinism starts to look really wonky.
