"The blessed Ordinators who carry the banner of God Queen and Mother Ayem can not lose in battle!" A voice replied to Andarys.

"This is non sense! We are outnumbered, unsupported you will be nothing but a waste to me. Fall back in rank!" He couldn't believe it, having to argue in the middle of an engagement. The Ordinators were renown warriors fighting the unholy enemies of the Tribunal but had little experience in actual rank and file soldiering.

"Blasphemy!" The High Ordinator shot back. But before he continued Andarys already frustrated continued.

"Mother Ayem is as much a healer as she is a warrior. So what I tell you, she should know, if she does not know then she is no god and you don't need to worry."

Maybe it's just the effects of seeing that movie yesterday, but is it just me or did that part seem Kingdom of Heaven-y?

I was one of the few who actually enjoyed that movie for the sake of it being a movie! Good stuff. I havn't seen it in a while but maybe? I don't know, I can't think of which part you're speaking of. Is it when Saladin was argueing with that other Emir or whatever he was? "And how many victories did God win before I came along, that is how many victories did he will to be won." Or something like that. That actor is damn good and he's actually a Kurd IIRC like Saladin actually was.

There were several parts similar to this. One part was when Tiberius said they wouldn't win the war against Saladin, and some priest proclaimed it blasphemy, that the army of God carrying his banner the Cross cannot lose. In another part, Balin was arguing with a bishop of Jerusalem (or whoever) about burning the dead. The bishop said something that burning the bodies, they would not live again until the Judgement Day (or something, wasn't paying attention at that part); Balin said that God would understand that if they didn't burn them, they'd be dead from diseases 3 days later. The bishop asked what if God wouldn't understand, and Balin replied 'Then he's not the God, and we needn't worry'.

I liked that movie loads myself, even though I've heard the Directors' Cut was way better than the cinema version. I was pleasantly surprised, though, when Saladin's army didn't turn out a rabble of peasants like the Persians in 'Alexander'.

I'd have to rewatch it but i wouldn't be surprised. Does it seem out of character for the ordinators? I saw part of the director's cut where Guy fights Bailian at the end and just found it out of place. I havn't seen all of it i admit.

The Persian army I think was in large part levies and slave soldiers at the time. Alexander I liked but it didn't do justice. I want a 16 hour movie detailing all the battles and conquests! :D They had an animated series that was a bit sci fi about Alexander. Rein/Rain/Reign or something like that.

It doesn't seem much OOC for the Ordinators; the only reason I noticed it was probably the mentioned fact I saw KoH so recently and those few lines hit nearly straight on.

As for Achaemenid Infantry, I believe it wasn't half as bad as depicted in most movies. It's just that everyone knows Sparabaras, which, IIRC, were the rank-and-files of Achaemenid Persians couldn't stand up to Hoplites, thus some people tend to automatically think that Persian infantry = crap. I believe I've read somewhere that the Sparabaras and other Persian Infantry types fought with their robes over armor, which may explain why in movies they tend to be depicted with nothing more than their wicker towershields. In truth, I believe they were quite decent for infantry, it's just that the hoplites were considered very heavy infantry. I think the only troops of Achaemenid Persia who fought without armor were Immortals/Apple Bearers, and I'm not sure all of them did. IIRC it were only the very elites who did that, similarly to how the bravest and toughest Celts fought naked.

Then again, most of my sources consist of an RTW mod, Rise of Persia, so I may be wrong.

I liked the visuals, and seeing some of the armor was pretty neat. I especially liked the fact that their chainmaile didn't look completely retarded. But i absolutely despised the fact that they applied pansy modern morality and ethics rather than Medieval morality and ethics. I guess most audiences would think Balien of Ibelin too much of a mean [censored] if he had acted like a real french knight. The knights Templar came closest to behaving historically, but they were the big evil badguys...

also...WHY DID EVERYONE WEAR FRIGGEN PANTS?!

No I don't think he is.

But I am. They're swine bred animals and only a feces mound compared to the Hospitalers who in turn are but crusty dookie when compared to the fine soldiers of Imperium Romania and the komnenian army under the king of kings.

You know who's cool and possibly cooler? The Maori! The native people of MY country!

We were the only nation in history to push the British Empire to a treaty at the height of its power without gunpowder.

They took field guns and late 1800's congreve rockets against us when we had obsidian and jade spears and axes... Our superior military engineering and tactics won the day. Even though we ate each other. O.o

Well, my people were never particularly glorious and stuff, but at least we got to be the biggest country in Europe at one point. Lurking in a big forest with a load of javelins and bows and ripping off mongolian tactics FTW.

Well yeah if you ate them you get their strength so it's not surprising.

I have never ubered so much as I have in this RP. :/ I like being put in crazily hard situations with no guidance, though, and it gives my character good reason to be angry. An angry character is a good character, in my opinion. :D

Next time, I'll go for a more straight-forward character though, methinks. A cruel, power-crazed and incredibly manipulative Queen should do.

Sounds good.

Trust me your definately not Ubering, which I consider a childish way of being good at everything, I wouldn't even consider Mercury Epic, she's pretty humble. And i can be expected when your surrounded by danger on all sides, and your entire life has been spent mastering magic, you better do well.

I think you've been roleplaying a mature character here, haven't seen any Uberness.

I never thought power = "uberness". I might be bias because i tend to like stronger characters because i like the whole mythology of struggling with potential.
