The Imperial City

In the Imperial City, which temples would be there according to lore besides just the Temple of the One and the cathedral Benevolence of Mara? What others would there be?

How many islands are there really in the Imperial City according to lore?

How big is the Imperial City really supposed to be? From lore books it seems huge, yet in Oblivion it is a tiny little town it seems.

The First Pocket Guide the Empire describes the Imperial City well for the little bit it does, would anyone happen to know where else you could find some really good descriptions of the Imperial City?

The religious organizations of the IC are known as the Thousand Cults, and include whatever weird faiths you can think of. We know for sure that there would be sizable sects devoted the Emperor Zero, Cuhlecain, as well to Shezzar, the missing divine.

I don't think "the Thousand Cults" is a proper noun. Shezarr and the Eight Divines just says that "(Shezarr), and a thousand other deities, have sizeable cults in the Imperial City."

Eh, it's sort of a forum watchword these days, but I think it came from somewhere. Can't find it though.

The Pocket Guide to the Empire, one of them anyway, says there are 1000 Cults in the Imperial City. Just like Rome really, with just about any loony worshiping just about any loony god you can think of.

Even, if it doesn't say that, if there's a 1000 gods, then there will be a way to worship each one. Hence 1000 cults. Easy.

I think it woul rather be a question of a 1000 ways to worship the same set of gods.
With a few (as in very many) other gods too, of course. But mainly, different ways to worship the "good old ones".

Heya there John

I don't know for sure, but I think Betheseda did a lame Job on making temples in the Imperial City ... Mind me to think atleast nearly all of the Ten Divine Gods should have a Temple / Chatedral in the Imperial City (I can think that Kynareth shouldn't have one since she is the Godess of the Wilderness)), I also would think about a couple of shrines to lesser / demi gods, heroes, and ofcourse shrines to Deadra Gods (underground or above ground).

How many islands are there really in the Imperial City according to lore?

I must admit I havn't readed much about Imperial City lore, but someone maked a drawing of how the Imperial City should have been, I really liked the drawing of that

How big is the Imperial City really supposed to be? From lore books it seems huge, yet in Oblivion it is a tiny little town it seems.

I agree, I'f it comes to this I refer to the Big Cities during the High Days of the Middle Ages, maybe even to Old Rome in the days of the glorieus Empire (1/2 A.D, actually I think towns like Chorrel and Bravil should have nearly been Sub Urbs of The Imperial City

The First Pocket Guide the Empire describes the Imperial City well for the little bit it does, would anyone happen to know where else you could find some really good descriptions of the Imperial City?

Ar i am affraid not you might find some fan based material

Lots and lots to lots and lots, really. Imperials allow freedom of religion, so there may be/have been Dunmer shrines to the Tribunal, a batch of Shorist temples, a temple for each Divine, a really big Talos shrine, as well as many others.

No idea, sorry.

See how big all of Oblivion was? about that size.

Really any books set in them, even breifly. Run around in Oblivion and read books like "A Dance in Fire" as well as many others like "The Real Barenziah."Aside from being great stories, they have pretty good descriptions of what we're missing.
