The imperial race

In oblivion I never really focused on the imperials. I know they are gifted in tongue and personality, but are they that special? Share your thoughts on why they stand out from the other nine races please.

If you intend to go full-on trader, they're the best for starting out, but it's balanced off after a while.

Imperals are only good for those who like to play the human "sword and board" hero.

I personally like playing Imperal/Khajiit warriors. Its fun knowing you're against the odds when you have to fight a Redguard, Nord or Orc.

If you're going for stats, then don't play an imperal. Having a good personality in oblivion is nowhere near as rewarding as it was in Morrowind. Gold is just too easy to obtain.

If you want to play a character that looks like a traditional human, I guess. On my first playthough I knew nothing about stats or anything like that, so I picked a breton becuase I thought they looked human. I'd never played a game before where you could play as a cat or a lizard. (Obviously Khajiit/ Argonian now I know more.)

I still don't care much for stats, but Lore is important to some players too.

Starting stats really don't matter much in this game.

Imperials are pretty much a "normal" Human balanced character.

There could be good lore reasons for roleplaying an Imperial. Aside from that, they are typical human general purpose characters.

The only thing I look at when picking a race is looks and image. Attributes and skills balance out over time depending on how you level. Racial perks are more significant (eg: Breton magic resistance) but the game is not so hard as to require such perks.

Imperials are the predominant race in Cyrodiil. They 'rule' the Empire and dominate both the military and nobility of Cyrodiil. If that image fits a character, then Imperial is a great choice. :foodndrink:

I think Imperials make the perfect Rogue. Silver-tongued and with decent combat abilities, add The Thief birthsign to compensate for low agility and you have a very good scoundrel type character.

If it′s one race I would never play it would be the Imperials. I simply cannot think of a more boring and bland race

i don't like imperials. They should have been a stealth race. I mean it would have made a trinity thing with nords being combat, and bretons being magic. Instead they are good at speech and mercantile. In my game i modded their stats to be higher in sneak, lightarmor, speech, and marksman. Also i think they look like native Americans for some reason, bretons seem to be the typical white Europeans
