I'm the f%^*ing Dragonborn

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:18 am

No I don't fetch the mead! Look at me when I talk to you Ulfric! I killed mudcrabs stronger than you! Stop the mundane quests already Companions, I can take all of you on!
I consider myself an honorable person, Thalmor. Therefore I shall break only one of your kneecaps. "Thalmor, business, move al--" FUS RO DAH!!

Why does no one care that I'm the [censored] Dovahkiin? They should be shouting my name like in the theme. Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin! Naal ok zin los vahriin!

I don't want everyone to give me what I want, I just feel like the Dragonborn should change history, that's what I want. And all I'm doing is fetch quests. Anyone agree?

No one knew what the hell was going on or why the hell the dragon were back. Everything you did you did pretty much in secrecy. Only a few things were public. So only a few people would have even the slightest idea what you might have done.

Edit : Although, you should have bin a little more popular in Whiterun.

Yeah the Thalmor guys really piss me off.

And why is it that I can figure out an NPC is going to backstab/shoot/maim/yell at me but I cant kill them because there "Quest" NPC's.

Why is that these Thalmor baboons can talk all this trash to me, but my responses are like a big fat milk sandwich??

Not only that, but fetching mead to get a quest line going? Really beth? Did you guys smoke some crack before these missions.

I love this game, cant stop playing, but get to certain points and just quit.

I agree, Im the dragonborn, at least have the guards be like "Yo, your the dragonborn, cool."

And last but not least, the mage in Whiterun. Why does he keep telling my level 46 mage to go to the college to learn some magic? I AM THE FREAKING ARCHMAGE. And shave those sideburns.

In morrowind you were known across the land as Nerevarine, the Slayer of Dagoth Ur, Destroyer of Blight, reincarnation of St. Indoril Nerevar, Chosen of Azura, a demi god untouched by age or disease. In Oblivion you were known as the Hero of Kvatch, Protector of Bruma, champion of cyrodil and eventually - sheogorath himself. In skyrim, you are known as "citizen" once you beat alduin.

It would be nice to have some more reactive worlds, but it seems all to common in RPGs. I myself have had my moments in games where I have sighed when some jerk has decided to fight me to the death despite my epic deeds and the fact I have slain hundreds of their kind before.

I like to think they are just optimistic "sure old hero over there has survived everything thrown at 'em so far, but maybe this time I'll be the one! Leeeeroooy Jenkins!

But it would take a bit of work to make NPCs respond to you differently based on level, weapons and other quests completed (but there is still a lot more that could be done which would be reasonable).

I find it irritating to no end that despite being a Thane in a hold, the guards/peons still make random disparaging comments towards me.

On a separate but related note, the random comments about your skills is even worse than it was in Oblivion, and now includes the ability to see items in my inventory, apparently.

haha. the worst one is definitally the "oh you favor the bow, eh? Im a sword man myself" when my one handed skill is 100 with a ton of perks in it and my archery is 40 with no perks.

The mage at Whiterun keeps recommending that I visit the College in Winterhold, you know, if I have the aptitude. Apparently he doesn't actually keep up with the news, seeing as quite a few things have happened up there very recently. Including, you know, me becoming the Arch Mage.

Trainers of the College of Winterhold. I am now your Archmage. In view of this fact, I would like to remind you that if I ever have to look in every room of the premise once again to find one of you so I can buy a spell tome, Divines help me, I will conjure the dark powers of Oblivion so far up your collective asses you'll be able to taste it. Stop. Wandering. All. Over. The. Place.

Hmm, you suddenly became Dragonborn, not even your character (in his/her late 30's/40's) knew until you killed your first dragon. It takes people years or a lifetime to achieve global fame with their achievements, I see no problem in Skyrim people not really knowing you after only adventuring for weeks/months in the game before its completion.

Funny read though OP. :D

That's because Nords don't go in for all that hero worship stuff.

Nord: "Beat a dragon god eh? That might impress the elves, but does it get me me mead? Thought not."

That's what I love about TES. :D You save Morrowind, and people are still n'wah-ing you worse than ever. I mean, it's been ages since I finished the main quest, but do they even actually notice you're the Nerevarine - in game ? As for the attitude, I do seem to remember clearly that, err, I didn't notice much of an improvement. :P

Why should some random NPC know who you are ? Why should he believe it if he does, or care ? If some schmuck pranced in your house, claiming to be the next messiah, would you roll the red carpet ?

In Oblivion it was by far the worst! compared to Oblivion, Skyrim did it way better. How you get the illusion that you were talked about like a hero it really wonders me... In Morrowind it was good.. but hey... that was easy with all the texts and no voice acting..
Although it would be pretty easy to script out those things like "you should join the Mages College" or "so you fetch the mead?" when you have gained a higher rank in the guild. Why they didn't do that really suprises me.. I mean they did it with the Main Quest where guard talked for a short while about the Truce and such.... hope it will come with a patch.

Thanks.

But it's not that I want everyone to know you, but that if you do something big, then people should know about it. The companions are the greatest warriors in whiterun. But they still call me a wimp if I killed 5 dragons RIGHT OUTSIDE THEIR TOWN.

Depends. If he performed miracles before my eyes like turning water into wine or multiplying dozens of food from one, etc, I'll believe it.

If I'm the Dragonborn Come, I think I ought to have more respect than "fetch the mead, new-blood."

Some of it, like the Mage in whiterun just seems like lazy coding. If an npc can detect that I'm naked, and make a comment about it, surely it would be just as easy to script reactions to other items - archmage robes, nightingale armor, db clothes, etc etc. maybe even a couple dragon born comments if I'm wearing dragon plate or scale armor.
