The Institute is socialist and therefore evil. Let’s look at what makes a Socialist totalitarian state like Stalin’s Soviet era Russia, Chairman Mao’s people’s republic of China or Hitler’s Nazi Germany during the 30s and 40s, and compare them to the Institute. But before we get to that lets compare the institute’s leader to the most evil socialist leaders in history.



First look at the leaders Stalin Mao and Hitler, they all three were romantic socialist dreamers, professional students and talkers who never really worked a day in their lives. Now look at Shaun, I’m sorry I mean “Father” because all great dictators have to have a title and be referred to almost god like proportions by their people.

Shaun is a professional student his whole life and is a very persuasive talker and never worked, really worked a day in his life in fact he was breed from infancy for the position of “Director” of the institute.



Now let’s look at what the institute and these other totalitarian regimes have in common.



First you need a vilified enemy; Stalin had the peasant farmer culats, educated city dwellers in the case of Mao and of course in Germany the Jewish people. Now where is the institute’s enemy? Well there certainly is many to choose from, the railroad, the Brother Hood of Steel hell the people of the commonwealth as a whole. But essentially anyone who doesn’t fit in their idea of what humanity should be.



Second an all-powerful state with a centralized government, like the institutes directorate. Which oversees every aspect of the people’s lives who live in the Institute and eventually the people of the commonwealth?



Third a compliant media, as is evidenced with the Mayor of Diamond city trying to shut Pipers newspaper down, and then coming to find out he was a synth working for the institute the whole time. And let’s not forget the propaganda broad cast you give for the institute.



Fourth a disarmed population within the institute its self no one has a weapon, one could say they don’t need to because the place is crawling with security synths who do carry weapons, Much like the state police force of The Soviet Union, Hitler’s Germany and Mao’s China. Any chance of an insurrection has been eliminated because how can you fight a armed robot without a gun. Now of course they haven’t disarmed anyone in the commonwealth itself, but you have to imagine this is the direction they are going to fulfill the dream utopia.



Five, Time just time, and the institute plans are decades perhaps centuries in the works, they have patients. Patients to make the necessary changes gradually and slowly so in two are three decades of centralized concentrated state power their plans would be complete.

So the conclusion is the Institute is a Socialist totalitarian regime. And Shaun an evil Dictator.
