The Institute. *spoilers*

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:49 pm

Let's face it these guys may be the most technologically advanced group around, but they're evil.

You can't tell me the synths just randomly went Rogue and jumped the teleported and happened to try to ambush me during my hunt for my child. You can't tell me these Gen I synths randomly went haywire and slaughtered people.

You can't tell me kidnapping and killing people and replacing them with Gen III synths was for the greater good.

There's ulterior motives lying beneath the surface that no one knows and I just refuse to believe they are good.

Anyone feel the institute truly is a danger to the remaining human population?

Id rather have the institute over the brotherhood... at least the insitute has the means to actually fix the world someday.. the brotherhood is just "kill DESTROY MURDER anyone who doesnt agree with us and/or isnt human"

The broherhood is like a dictatorship.. one ruler and everyone else falls in line.. and they want to bring their "peace" to everyone else... aka they want to control everything and gain power..

i mean they even ask you to get food from farmers "by any means nessicary" aka including violence/murder.. the brotherhood is the most evil thing you can get.. The institute may have secret plans/plots.. but at least in the end you become the leader of the institute and could change things for the better.. whereas with the brotherhood they will continue on with their crazy genocidal mission.

The brotherhood has its faults for sure.

However think of this. The Institute whants to supposedly use the Synths to wipe out all hostile mutants in the wasteland and create a habitable, safe world for mankind. If the synths are able to do such a thing, what would stop them from killing man kind.

We have already seen synths are perfectly capable of wiping out settlements of humans who were not raiders. What makes anyone thing the Institute wouldn't create terminators by mystake? This also ignores the fact that the Institute has no problem kidnapping and murdering people and replacing them with Gen IIIs as well as just wiping out settlements.

I don't care if they are good or evil, since my son is there.
I don't care if my son is good or evil, as long as he have achieved his goals in life, and made his mark in history.
Since no matter what decision he made, he is my son, my family, my fresh and blood.

How many people in the world can actually kill their son, because he done something terribly wrong?
Therefore are they evil isn't the factor in your choice.

Speaking as someone not a parent: I'm not sure if I'd support my own flesh and blood if he were doing evil. I'd be working on a way to stop him.

I think a lot of Institute fans support the Institute as is.

When the Institute ending is about Shaun asking you to CHANGE it.

It's just as Elder Lyons shows....

Bad organizations are hard to change.

They told the mercenary spesificly to unfreeze everyone in the vault and not open the doors, they killed everyone but you for no reason, their was no good reason to kill them and I find that unforgivable. Also they are killing people and replacing them with synths just to spy on people. These are the the reasons why I cannot join them and have no sorrow over destroying them but the synths themselves are not to blame either and that is why I cannot join the brotherhood who wants to commit genocide by killing them all, the railroad seems to be the only ethical choice and that is the side I support.

You are right, but there aren't any option to stop him except to kill him, isn't it.

except the railroad is personally responsible for at least a few of the synth attacks.. not the institute.. at least one institute mission has you taking down a synth raider leader who was made that way by the railroad altering his programing.. the railroad is synths > humans.. if anything they would support terminator style robots as they dont give 2 [censored]s about humanity.

Also once you become leader of the institute most of these problems can get fixed thru side quests and after that the institute is different.. in the end you reveal yourselves to the world and you get to choose your intentions in a speech on the radio.. you could choose violent or peaceful options.

The institute was never evil... they just did whatever it took to try to save the world.. maybe they made some extreme choices.. but until you became the leader they didnt think much of the wasteland outside or want to bother helping them at all. But again you can change that as the leader.

That is illogical.

Synths are human.

Except the Institute will ask you to kill off everyone else. And that's my problem. I can understand the BoS. Since they are a direct threat. But the RR? Best way to stop them is to stop the flow of Synths. And that's easy.

I was lucky enough to play a Master Hacker so I didn't have to wait long to have my Sole Survivor hack the terminals in the Biology labs to see what was hidden behind the energy grid. What greeted me, of course, was a bunch of pickled Super Mutants.

Also, a terminal where it talks about:

1. Kidnapping Wastelanders to be turned into Super Mutants so they can be used as weapons.
2. Their failure at this.

You could just hear Sole Survivor going, "God dammit. I knew this place was no good."

Even outside of the lab, you had the "Monitor Crop planting processes" which ends with "Murder everyone."

There's nothing in the FEV lab that I can recall which mentions the tests being done to create weapons.

And the only tangible results were, well, the cure for the FEV-87 strain. Which is questionable lore-wise.

Really the whole FEV/Institute thing is poorly written and feels like it was shoe-horned in for no real reason.

In the notes, they explain the Super Mutants are being made before the Generation III Synths as a means of dealing with the Commonwealth "problem." The failure of them results in them seeking out Shaun from a Vault.

And the tangible results are however many Wastelanders killed.

Also, the probable existence of the Commonwealth Super Mutants. How they got on the surface is anyone's guess, though.

As a prelude to the Synth program, sure. But the search for synthetic organics was hardly only about weaponization.

That is an interesting point.

Kidnapping wastelanders to turn them into weapon is just abominable. This is why as in the end I feel the Brotherhood, despite all their flaws are the best choice.

Exactly.

You ask me the Institute is just using helping the commonwealth as cover for their true goals.
