The institute

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:17 pm

I am at a point where I have to pick sides. I know what all factions stand for, except the institute.

Since I don't really know what they stand for, I have a hard time picking sides. I currently feel like joining the railroad, since I don't like the way the institute threads the Synths. However, I know very little about them.

Does anyone care to explain what the Institue's view on a "perfect world" is ? I mean, if I side with them and defeat their enemies, what do they plan to do exactly ?

I planned to do some quests for in institute to try to get to know them better, but my most recent quest asks to fight the railroad, which I don't want to do (yet).

PS : if the answer contains spoilers, obivoulsy I don't want to know, so please tell me :)

Thanks.

I can tell you one thing... I don't like the Synths because they outright attacked me in a big town battle for no reason. Makes it easy to pick sides that way.

The institute believes that they need to wipe out all hostorical tech from existence and shape the world "for the better" in their image. Also, they test pretty much anything because "SCIENCE" so they can literally shape the world in their image.

Felt the same. In the end, I sided with the Railroad. Felt bad destroying the BoS since I liked a couple of their characters. I didn't go for the BoS because of their hatred for everything non-human, institute for obvious reasons.

Railroad just seemed like the best option.

The Institute stands for itself.

It is a paradise of science and luxury built on robot slave labor.

And it wants to survive.

You can help its people live by killing the Railroad and BoS.

After a full play through for the institute, I think they are fundamentally the same as The Covenant from FO3. The only real differences are their approaches to technology, and who founded them. Maybe slightly less genocidal than The Covenant though, but just by a little bit.

The Institute have synth gorillas, for some that is enough reason to join them.

Not for me though, they need to armor them up and put institute lasers on their backs and shoot lasers from their eyes and be used to wrestle super mutants to be awesome enough to consider it.

Seriously, what is up with the 'rillas?

Seems to me that there are more practical things one could focus scientific effort towards.

At some point The Institute's directive approach is able to be manipulated. On paper, you can't really say what they'll end up doing unless we as players are told "Hey, they became uber asses and killed everyone" not getting the cinematic that tells you what happens in the future like Fallout 3 doesn't help either.

It is safe to say that Synth production and "slavery" would continue to be a strong trend in the future, and with a very hefty portion of the work force for The Institute being Synths, the directorate and it's work force can focus on other advances within their respective fields. Gen 4 Synths could be a thing, if someone dies of a disease or is killed in cold blood, Gen 4 Synths could replace them. Being close to the point of being exactly Human, but retaining all memories and personality traits of the original Human who would have died.

We don't know if The Institute will enforce it's beliefs across the Commonwealth or if it won't, we don't know if they will usher a better future in for Humanity or if they will become it's final downfall, only each player individually will know when they get to a certain point.

I'm having the same delima. I like both bos and railroad but have no idea where the institute is going or how they are going to help humanity. All I know is right now I stand with the minute men

That's kind of their thing.

They do science because it's fun.

They don't help the Wastelanders above because they're beyond redemption according to Shaun.

Except, Shaun is kind of rethinking a lot of this so he wants to make you Director.

The only faction worth siding with is the Atom Cats. They are the only group that treats you well, instead of as just some errand boy ( accept for that time they make you the errand boy but that was ONE time)!

But in all honesty, the only agenda they have is Look Cool and Enjoy Power Armor (Okay they may or may not be planning something BIG in the future, but that is for you to discover), where as every other faction wants you to single handedly wrest control of the commonwealth away from every other faction.
