Here we go Chapter 6.
Chapter 6
"It's an amazing thing, you know, when absorb a human being, you steal their soul, their memories, everything about that person, you absorb it. You should know who I am. My name is Ryan, Ryan Samuels. My modified F.E.V virus worked better than I could ever have imagined, you see I am part Reaper but I can also take the form of a human."
I was in shock but I had to know why.
"How? You didn't absorb the captain, they found his body."
Ryan smiled again. "Well as I said earlier when you absorb a human you get their memories. One of your fellow 'Mercenaries' had a very vivid memory of the captain. It all worked out perfect for me actually. There I was hunting the last of the Brotherhood, when you beat me to it and killed him. My plan had been foiled by a bunch of part time soldiers. Luckily, for me, you left a half dead soul to feed off. I absorbed the man and gained his memories. I was simply astonished to learn of your own evil plans."
I shook my head at him. "No, no, our plans aren't evil, we just do what we have to, so we can survive."
Ryan threw his head back and chuckled loudly.
"You honestly believe that? No, you couldn't, it's just what you tell yourself, so you can justify what you're doing. You're attempting to cover up the fact that what you are doing is wrong, but deep down you know, don't you?"
As much as I didn't want to admit it, he was right. I didn't say anything back I just looked down at my feet. Ryan laughed again.
"I thought so. After learning of your plans, I knew it was only a matter of time before you came back. Sure enough I was right, flying across in your vertibird. All I had to do is command one of the Reapers to take you down. I managed to reach the wreck before you and I found your captain dead. I seized my opportunity and took the form of the captain. You all played right into my hands after that, I saw you reveal the journal on the boat and again I commanded a reaper to attack us. I spared you only to use you further but I have not finished with you yet."
I cursed at my stupidity. How could I have not seen the signs? He knew way too much for everything to be considered just a 'hunch'. I was still lost and confused; there were still some things I didn't understand. Things I just had to know.
"But why..." I was cut off by Ryan.
"No, no more questions, only instructions. You are to log on to the overseer's computer; the password should be 'Lyons'. Once you have gained entry I need you to access the vaults security system. Then you are to bring up the security cameras. If you co-operate, I can grant you with the honour of becoming a Reaper."
I smirked.
"You mean I get to become glorified zombie? Being controlled by you doesn't really appeal to me." I said in a sarcastic tone.
"You are a fool not to join me, if you choose not to be co-operative I will absorb you and I can assure you that is a most painful experience." Ryan was beginning to get angry.
I stood there for a moment, thinking, this was a big choice, no matter what I did the wasteland would come off worse for it.
"I'll cut a deal with you Ryan, you give me the same dose of the F.E.V that you gave yourself and I will serve you without question."
He paused and gave me a sly look.
"Fine." He mumbled.
"For this to work, I need you to give me the dose of F.E.V first, that way I can still turn into my human form and I can ensure that you won't betray me."
Ryan looked down and grumbled.
"Fine. Follow me." He muttered.
He led me out of the Overseer's office and down the hall towards the labs. I had never seen the inside of a vault before, but it wasn't much of a spectacle. It was basically a dark, metal grey, death trap. I didn't know how anyone could live down here. When we got to the lab Ryan opened up the door of a freezer, he pulled out a single vial and a needle. He put the needle in the vial and svcked the F.E.V up.
"This should do it." He said handing me the needle. "Just inject it directly into your heart."
I starred Ryan down for a moment, trying to suss out whether to believe him or not. His body language suggested he was telling the truth but then again I was no expert. The needle was rather large so I was a bit hesitant at first. I placed my hand on my chest, trying to pin point exactly where my heart was. After feeling around for a minute Ryan snapped.
"I don't have time for this boy, just let me do it!" He said as he grabbed the needle from me.
He stabbed the needle straight into my chest before I could even say or do anything. Before I knew it, he pulled the needle out, empty. The effects were almost immediate, all of the sudden I felt incredibly cold and weak. I fell to my knees and looked up at Ryan. The bastard was smiling.
"Ah, yes, it would appear I forgot to mention that at first you begin to feel incredibly weak and you eventually die. A minor detail." He chuckled, again, picked me up and hoisted me over his shoulder.
Ryan took me back down the hall towards the overseer's office. When we got back to the office he threw on the ground next to the overseers' computer. I just lay there on the ground, I was too weak to move, let alone get up. He gave me a frustrated grumble and picked me up again, this time he put me on the computer chair in front of the computer.
"You're not dead yet, I need you to log in and access the security systems cameras." Ryan yelled forcing my hands onto the keyboard.
I summoned every bit of strength I had and typed in 'Lyons' which was the password, I then clicked on the security cameras. Four screens came up, one was of the labs, another was in the common room, another was placed just at the top of the lift in the main room of the citadel and the other was looking into a strange room with all these tubes placed everywhere. I managed to notice that the Talon Company had arrived and were searching the main room of the citadel.
"Ah, excellent they're still there, you've done well. I know there's not much left of you right now but I need to do one more thing. Just below camera four it says 'unlock cryogenics chamber', click it."
I did as I was told and I clicked it. I looked back up at Ryan and questioned.
"Why did you need me? What are you e-even doing?" I was beginning to slur my words.
"I suppose there's no harm in telling you now. Some how the brotherhood managed to lock me out, they managed to program this computer and the computer outside to recognise me. This meant that I could no longer return. This is why I needed you. In that cryogenic chamber you just opened, lies an army of BoS soldiers. Once I convert them into Reapers I will have a large enough army to take on your Talon Company. After I convert many of your Talons to Reapers I will have enough of an army to take on the next big thing, eventually I will take over what's left of the world. Simple really. Thank you for all your help but I must be off now, destiny awaits." Ryan spoke in an evil and wicked way.
There was nothing I could do but watch him leave the room. I was beginning to get so weak I could hardly lift my head. I collapsed in a heap on the desk next to the computer. I managed to shift my eyes up onto the screen. I could see Ryan enter the chamber. I spotted a large 'LOCKDOWN' button at the bottom of the screen.
"I can't let him do this." I thought to myself.
With a final burst of strength I lifted myself up and clicked the button. Sirens and alarms began to go off. I lost all strength and collapsed forward, knocking over the desk and computer. One of the draws flew open and out popped a book, which flew into my lap. I managed to get one last look at the screen before it blacked out; Ryan was banging on the locked chamber door. I died with a smile on my face.
Just to note so people don't get confused, Peter has to die before becoming a Reaper, so this is NOT the final chapter. Stay tuned for more folks.
