The Journey of Caravans

Post » Mon Feb 07, 2011 6:12 pm

Any questions you have, feel free to post them on the forums or PM me.

The year is 2288 and the place is the Capital Wasteland. Due to the Lone Wanderer's help, the Capital Wasteland is the first place to have all the luxuries of Pre-War societies. It comes usually in the form of radiation free water and food. Merely 11 years after the activation of Project Purity, the Capital Wasteland was changing drastically, for the better and for the worse. All the towns that weren't hostile banded together to form a sort of union that had one specialty to benefit the rest who didn't specialize in that.

Major Locations

Megaton: Now with the bomb in the center of town disabled, the town of Megaton underwent a massive expansion in all directions. They didn't specialize in anything but was a very important outpost for caravans going and coming from D.C. Especially the water caravans who needed to make rounds in the western portion of the Capital Wasteland. With it came casinos all owned by Moriarty and his new apprentice, Issac. The biggest and most powerful casino being, "The Marksmen." Houses were torn down to make way for very large hotels. The plane parts were all traded to them by Rivet City, who had no need for such things anymore.

Rivet City: With the Tidal Basin full of clean water, Rivet City obviously had only one thing to do in this new union. They managed nearly everything about the water caravans except for the military. With that new found money coming and the Brotherhood seeing this city as the most important, Rivet City grew in terms of wealth and living status. The citizens were all very well fed and the Rivet City Council became the head of all trading affairs in the Capital Wasteland. The head Chancellor even got a seat on the Brotherhood council.

Vault 101/Vault City: Now that Vault 101 had opened, it has become an important part of Megaton's economy as it keeps the casinos and hotels running with it's newly created Nuclear Power generator made by Moira Brown and the Brotherhood. Not only that, it also provides all the medical supplies for all the Capital Wasteland, cranking out Stimpaks and other general medical equipment like crazy. Amata rules over this giant factory with a kind heart, which makes it very vulnerable to raider attacks. The Lone Wanderer also lives here with Amata, but both people are never seen by the public.

The Citadel: The Citadel hasn't expanded but has changed drastically. Now hailed as the new Capitol Building, the Elder Council meets here once a year. The Council consists of the Brotherhood of Steel Elder(the "President"), The Head Scribe(Technology Adviser), The Rivet City Chancellor(Caravan affairs), Harden Simms(Trading), and a representative of Vault 101. Controls the Capital Wasteland military police, which are Brotherhood Knights.

Evergreen Mills: The Raider Crater is now organized into one of the largest terrorist organizations in the Capital Wasteland. Hated by most, the raiders here are equipped with Commonwealth Technology, rivaling Brotherhood Technologies. Wanting freedom without the Brotherhood, the raiders here do occasional bombings using the Fat Man and missile launchers to Brotherhood designated Settlements. The raiders here call themselves, "The Raptors."

Armageddon: The battle site for the Raptor and Brotherhood. Three years ago, the Raptor had attacked the Jefferson Memorial and a large battle took place in the D.C Ruins, near the bridge to the Memorial. Although the raiders were repelled, the Brotherhood had also taken casualties and the pipes for the Memorial had taken some damage from the missiles. Scars of the battle still remain with many ruined buildings showing dried up blood, burns from the laser rifles, and even some bullet shells still present.

Plot & Major Factions

The Water Caravans have been very busy lately. Hundreds were sent to distribute water and still are. The Raptor attacks these caravans and steals their water to fuel their army. Although the Brotherhood tried many times to attack their base, all fire teams have been killed. Caravans are the biggest business as of right now though so although the risk is huge, the caravan drivers and mercenaries that protect them still go on. Nearly every settlement relies on caravans so a union among the caravans were formed to allow Rivet City to control everything in exchange for a home, free food and water, and finally lots of caps. But unlike the Caravans of the old, only freelance caravans get paid by the customers. The new ones are paid by the employers and all the money is given to the employer. Now the Capital Wasteland is split between the Brotherhood and Raptor while the caravans are merely trying to get by. The next attack by the Raptor is imminent. Brotherhood forces are garrisoned all over the wasteland while rumors of the head of the Caravan Union planning to attack the Citadel have surfaced.

Factions

Raptors: A radical terrorist group of raiders, tribals, and citizens with similar ideals. They have no religion or belief system other than their golden rule. The Brotherhood must be killed.

Brotherhood of Steel: Now that the East Coast Brotherhood is no longer an elitist group and now a military force, it accepts help from anybody so long as they are fit to be a scribe or soldier.

Caravan Union: The sole employment company for Caravans. They hire anybody so long as they can walk long distances and can kill.

Any City: City dwellers are looked down upon by non-city people as they are believed to be "pampered."

Rules

1. No God Mode. If you get shot in the arm, you won't be able to aim straight.
2. Don't Control other people's characters. Unless of course, you have their permission
3. Be active. I should be making some sort of cycle thing but just be active. I'll make an exception to those who have a reason.
4. No dramatic story change. For the love of Christ, don't nuke a city without build-up.
5. Romance is allowed...let's keep it in Bethesda rues shall we?

It's the Capital Wasteland version of the New Vegas story. The Brotherhood wants to keep control of the Capital Wasteland while the Raptor wants to liberate it. And in a hidden corner, the head of the Caravan Union wishes to also see both parties removed.

Is it ok to join this even though i'm new to this? If so here is my character

Name/Alias: Theodore Monk/Monk (he doesn't like people to know he is called Theodore)

Gender: Male

Age: 36

Appearance: A massive, scarred brute of a man. Dark brown eyes and a shaved head.
Monk is missing his right ear and has heavy scarring around the burned stub that remains.

Faction: Caravan Union. Monk works as a bodyguard for traders travelling from Megaton into the capitol wasteland. Mainly viewed as dumb muscle by his employers.

Personality: Monk has a pretty pesamistic, cynical outlook on life. He is level lheaded in a fight and is a lot brighter than he appears. He doesn't trust people easily.

History: Monk was raised "out west" hearding brahmin with his mother and grandparents but cattledrives were of little interest to Monk. At age 15 he left the ranch in the night and headed east. By age 20 began working as a security guard in Megaton, he talks little about the time between. Bored by his job in Megaton Monk began drinking too much, and after a drunken altercation with the sheriff Monk was banished from the town. After this he fell in with a band of prospectors, picking through the ruins of DC for anything useful. While searching through an old military base the team were ambushed by two protectrons, the first shot seared the side of Monks face and severed his ear. In the firefight that ensued all of the prospecters were killed. Monk barely escaped alive and unfortunately his unconscious body was found by slavers. Monk was taken to paradise falls and was sold to Mr. Shine, a promoter of pit fights. For the next few years Monk was forced to fight other slaves, ghouls, radscorpions and just about anything else people would bet caps on. The night that Monk and four other men were booked to fight a deathclaw the other slaves staged a revolt. When slaves picked the lock to release the fighters, the deathclaw also escaped and slaughtered the slavers and the spectators. After escaping Monk drifted for a couple of years but eventualy returned to Meaton, made his peace with the sheriff and took up his current post as a caravan guard.

Weaponry/Arsenal: .44 magnum (in a shoulder rig), Combat knife (in a boot sheath) and a Lever action shotgun.

Apparel(Clothing): Monk wears faded bluejeans with worn but durable looking boots. He is also wearing a weather beaten, beige duster coat.

Gear: Carton of cigarettes, lighter, vodka and nuka-cola.
Other(romances, etc...): Monk got word from "back west" that most of his family had died, so he does his best to send some caps to his mother whenever he can.

Name/Alias: Vicente Pizarro
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Appearance: Tall, lanking figure and composure. 6'4, black hair and green eyes. Slightly tan
Faction: Raptors ( Squad Interogator and Marksman )

Personality: Vicente is only well known among the Raptors for his insane and cruel methods of attack. Intelligent and cunning, Pizarro is notorious for being a very good torturer and marksman. He is considered neurotic and mentally unstable.

History: Born into a small family that had resided in Vault 101, Pizarro recieved an education equal to that of any Vault Dweller, but when Amata and the Lone Wanderer opened the gates to the Brotherhood, he was summarily expelled from the academy to make room for new wastelander students. His family, furious that their lives had been subjugated to kneeling before the BOS, left and joined up with the Raptors. Pizarro, being one of the few literate people in Evergreen Mills, decided to put his skills to use as a soldier and chief interogator. Brotherhood soldiers occasionally tell tales of his horrible methods, and although much of it is bias, some of the myths are indeed truth. Myth also indicates he worked with Talon Co. for a brief period, but left after the Brotherhood conducted a purge of Fort Bannister.

Weaponry/Arsenal: 1 R-92 Assault Rifle, 60 5.56mm rounds, Trench Knife

Apparel(Clothing): Basic Combat Armor, painted black in tribute to Talon Co.
Gear: 1 Binocular, 1 issue of '' Political Theorem "

Other(romances, etc...): Vicente has never been in an active relationship, due to his constant depression, but has periodically expressed interest in finding his own love. He keeps this a secret to most, but his few confidants are well aware of his weakness to women.

Both are accepted. I just need one more character. Here's the current list

DarkZerkerX - William Snowe & Evelyn Marx
QuantumFrost - Vicente Pizarro
Thekettleison - Theodore Monk/Monk
venix_445 - Sarah Lawson
Sharonhorste - Luke MacGreagor
2flyy - Lt. Gen. Bennet Mkombo

Name/Alias: William Snowe(Agent Winter)
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Appearance: Look at my avatar :)
Faction: Brotherhood of Steel Agent. Kills, takes intelligence, and spies on cities. According to all records other than Brotherhood, he doesn't exist.
Personality: Being a Brotherhood of Steel Agent, William is cold hearted and focused on the mission. Sometimes to a fault. Very tactical and calculating while also being ruthless in his mission. As the Brotherhood does not give out guidelines, William would burn down a shack full of innocents just to complete the mission.
History: William grew up in Vault 101, all the way from when the Lone Wanderer escaped from Vault 101. Following in his footsteps, William took advantage of the commotion and left as well. On his trek, he made his way to the Citadel, which took him in as William was one of the most literate people in the Vault. During the battle of Project Purity, William was an integral part of the mission as he was the one who was able to fracture the Enclave in Project Purity while the Lone Wanderer was subsequently destroying Raven Rock.
Weaponry/Arsenal: Silenced Glock 19, C4, Silenced MAC 10, Combat Knife
Apparel(Clothing): Traditional Pre-War fedora, sunglasses, business outfit.
Gear: Hacker and Lock Picker.
Other(romances, etc...): Fiance to the Scribe, Evelyn Marx.

Name/Alias: Luke MacGreagor.
Gender: Male.
Age: 27.
Appearance: Average height and weight. Green eyes and shoulder-length red hair.
Faction: He's the head of a small caravan called MacGreagor Quality Goods which does the usual circuit and has five brahmin and ten employees.
Personality: Charismatic and good at salesmanship, but some setbacks have stopped him from expanding his company. He likes money and will do anything that isn't blatantly unjust to get it.
History: Born to his parents, Mariette and Bartholomew MacGreagor in Megaton, and started his caravan business shortly after they died. His quick-thinking and bargaining got him a lot of money very fast and before long his caravan business expanded rapidly to more than twenty brahmin. However, Raptors started doing organized raids on his caravans, and sometimes left the richer ones to get his. He is trying to rebuild and hold of Raptor attacks to rebuild his caravan company from the ashes.
Weaponry/Arsenal: An assault rifle and a .32 pistol.
Apparel(Clothing): He's got combat armour which he takes into battle, but otherwise he wears a suit and a trenchcoat, all black.
Gear: Cigarette lighter, (He doesn't smoke but it could always be handy,) his keys and a torch is all he carries with him in his day-to-day life.

(Shouldn't other places like Girdershade and Canterbury Commons have been expanded and such? What about Paradise Falls and Oasis and Underworld and Big Town?)

Name: Sarah Lawson

Alias: Gamble

Gender: Female

Age: 26

Faction: Caravan Union, Caravan/Base Guard and scout

Personality: Sarah is a fun girl, usually in a good mood she tries to find the best in everyone. If she gets angry with someone she can be a total [censored] for want of a better word and expect her to be pissed of with you for a while. When working she is completely focused on what she is doing, almost cold to everything else which is a total opposite to her normal self. Also, she tends to gamble a fair bit and she's good at it hence why some people call her Gamble.

History: Sarah has been working with the caravan union since she was 16, she trained with the guards to become a proficient marksman and close quarters fighter. Before that she used to hang around the compound while her mother and father run a caravan together. One day when she was 15 one of the guards of her parents caravan came back dragging a box, in the box was the mutilated remains of three guards, a branhim and her parents. Sarah was angry for a long time, the guard who bought them back was in shock for a long time he'd couldn't speak, on her sixteenth birthday the guard finally spoke he told of how a black deathclaw tore the caravan apart the one guard hid until it was over. It was then she joined the guards hoping one day to face the deathclaw. But that might have to wait, things where brewing in the wasteland. To be honest she isn't even sure she wants to be a part of the caravan union anymore.

Gear: Bobby pin, screw driver, deck of cards and an extra queen of hearts playing card which is put in her belt.

Other(romances, etc...): Has fairly strong feelings for Jade, an office girl for the caravan union although nothing has been said.

Name/Alias: Lt. Gen. Bennet Mkombo

Faction: Raptors- Death Squad Enforcer. (Leads a group that executes persons of interest. Mayors, caravan leaders, Brothehood Scribes, etc.)
Personality: Bennet enjoys the blood curdling screams of his victims as he mercilessly executes every last one. His favorite thing is to hunt down a fleeing enemy, and torture them prior to their death. Bennet is a courageous person who fears no body exept god himself.
History: Bennet's ancestors came to America just months before the Great War from Freetown, Sierra Leone, which at the time had fallen into complete anarchy and chaos. When the bombs fell, his family had built themselves a very sturdy bomb shelter, and lived down there for two years. When food began to dwindle, they resurfaced, only to find a desolate wasteland, and everything had been radiated. Overtime his family became very good at scavenging and stealing from settlements. When Bennet was just a young boy, he was caught stealing from a group of raiders. When they threatened to kill him, Bennet sought no problem with it, and simply stared blankly into the raiders' eyes. The chief of the group took Bennet in as his own, where the two found a common interest. Both had a rich African heritage, the chiefs family being from Angola. The two grew very close until the chiefs death, where Bennet was placed as the new tribal leader at the tender age of 16. When news of the terrorist group the "Raptors" came to Bennet, he made the executive decision to allign his tribe with the organization. Today, Bennet and his tribe, being skilled in warrior oriented positions quickly gained the position as a "Death Squad", who would conduct kidnappings, assassinations, bombings, etc. on behalf of the Raptors.

Gear: Gas mask, steel tippd combat boots, machete, always has a Cigar on him and smokes them 24/7
Other(romances, etc...): Has 14 wives, 51 children by all of them.
