Huh, interesting, good to know!
Obvious misdirection to avoid spoilers. I highly doubt the player is the 'sole survivor' of vault 111. Lke others have already mentioned in previous posts, why go through all that trouble to generate a baby based on your character only to have your baby die for good and not age?
Plus I'm pretty sure you eventually find out who is ultimately responsible for the events that transpire prior to your thawing out, who is also most likely still alive.
I'm nearing on 25, dunno if that counts as what you meant by young. But regardless what I mean isn't "I don't know how being a parent is yet so I can't imagine it for RP, what I'm saying is "I will never have children because I don't want to, neither will I ever marry, so I don't want to play as someone who does because our personalities will be too incompatible for me to connect with them". And to address the "teeny boper" bit, I said I would be fine playing as an older advlt. Shepard started at 29 and one of my Inquisitors was in her 40s for exemples.
Also, to whoever made the "kids are immortal" comment, when I said I would shoot shaun on sight, I meant assuming we meet the brat as an advlt, which if he's plot-important will most likely be the case. If he's a kid I'll just say the closest available thing to "[censored] off"
I know in Van Buren at Boulder Dome, you could thaw some of the NCR that were placed in cryonic sleep, but the PC had to have a very high medicine or the thawed person usually died. It was a very traumatic process. I'm assuming some of the inhabitants of vault 111 suffered the same fate. Isn't this what happens to the astronaut in MZ, he dies during thawing?
First of all it's not a big effort to generate the babys skin color based on the parents its an hours work at most i'd say it's just for the effect for example if you had two black parents and a white child or vice versa it would be weird as [censored] so they just changed it to generate a baby to prevent akward scenarios like that.
It wouldn't be a new feature... It was the same with James in FO3... His skin colour changed too.
The "Sole Survivor" of Vault 111 will be just that in the same way that "No one ever enters, no one ever leaves" Vault 101.
I know this is not everyone's cup of tea and I'm hoping Bethesda makes it so that anyone who wants to can ignore the find out what happened to your family story line.
Still if done right it can be very good and Bethesda looks like they are trying to set some thing up.
Don't know what twists but I hope they avoid the Sole Survivor's son is the head of the opposition.
I could see him being connected to the leadership of one of the factions and you could come in to conflict with that faction.
I'm still thinking the Spouse is there to help provide a connection to the Son and won't survive long after leaving the vault.
You can't interact that much with a baby but you can with a spouse.
Spouse and Son get removed from the vault.
Spouse dies and the Son is all alone and grows up enough to be recognizably yours.
When you finally find the Son, you can see both your face and the Spouse's face in the Son's.
Brian T. Delaney, the male protagonist voice actor, said in an interview that the entire time he was voicing the Sole Survivor, he knew the Sole Survivor was a family man and was motivated by his family, no matter how hard core the dialog became. He had a purpose.
He will still be alive. Everyone will live happily ever after.....in the wasteland.
This is the way I spin it...
We wake up as the only one there. Meaning there WERE people there, but people left.
I'm on the bandwagon that our son winds up as part of one of the factions, and potential antagonist.
I think people are just really on the whole Android/Dead Family tangent because it's their only plausible hope that they don't have to play with a preset family.
Dead Family Player: "Well, my families dead! Hah hah, nothing holding me back from being a tribal-raider-demon-slayer with anime hair now! Just as the good lord Gaben decreed."
Android Player: "I am not human, therefore, no family, EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE!"
What is with this community and desiring the death of children?
"Loss of family is cliche..."
Loss of family is one of the cornerstones of every major story EVER.
Apparently they are trying to find that perfect story hook that allows them to be whatever fan-fic fodder monstrosity they desire.
It honestly makes me sad, how hostile people are to simply having a family.
That used to be the driving force of civilization.
But you see, that negates the freedom to be a mass-murdering gay transgender batman who uses the BOS helmet as a toilet.
Okay, a mass-murdering gay trangendered Teenage lizard batman who uses the BOS helmet as a toilet, who is also a member of the Enclave.
what if your family never made it in the vault and went somewhere else and are still somewhere in the wasteland?
And this went downhill and crashed at the bottom.
Todd says you survive and are lowered into the vault. Whether that is everyone that was on the platform or not, they didn't say. You leave the vault 200 years later. That doesn't leave a lot of options open to find your family in the wasteland if they didn't make it into the vault.
