A medic doesn't have to be Light. You can use the knife with the pistol.

Knife is only if you have a pistol out. So mostly lights. Also any class can be any bodytype.

Yes any pistol. Any other gun will use a gunbutt as its melee option.

That is my understanding too. After all, why have a pistol as your backup when you could have an assault rifle? That's pretty much the entire point of being a heavy. However, if for some weird reason you have a fetish for being a beefy dude with a pistol and a knife, no one's going to stop you.

I think the only reason you'd want to do this is for the "lolwut" impact on your enemies.
