The landscape of Skyrim

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:53 am

I just want to add that I don't think Skyrim will be all snow either. I know that Solthiesm (however you spell that) was mostly snow and ice but it was also much farther north than Skyrim was.

The mountains will definitely have snow and ice just like they do here in Colorado and other places across the world. But if you look at a region like Colorado it's not just Mountains but a place of grassy plains, deserts, rivers, lakes and forests. In my mind the places near the ocean will look a lot like Alaska's (or Scandinavia's shoreline). There will probably be dense forests but in the more southern regions of Skyrim it will probably look like the great plains and maybe even have a cold desert.

Anyway I think what made Morrowind unique wasn't just the varied landscape but it's plant and animal life as well. Morrowind didn't even have snow capped mountains until Soltheism when I think back. Landscape isn't too important to me (I mean I want it to be more varied than Fallout 3) what's important is the experience and freedom.

you know i think skyrim will have a bunch of mountains but think of like new zealand for lord of the rings...how its green on foothills and then its really snowy in the mountains...think of fresh mountain springs or the wind blowing against grass...it will look so cool but the it will consist of more snow

Bleh. Any other Canadians/Northerners on here depressed that this game is taking place in Skyrim?

I already live in a frigid tundra populated by barbarians. I don't want to spend my video game time in another one.

Yeah I'm from Canada (don't live there anymore) but the region I'm from is a desert region, and nearby are rainforests and mountains. So I wouldn't mind if Skyrim looked like that, I just hope it doesn't look like a fantasy version of Antarctica.

Even if there are green areas, I hope they're not all cold and depressing. I want to see some areas that are hot, humid jungles as well as the snowy mountains.

Or it could be this...

For the King! For the King!
For the Fate of Skyrim!
For the Land, for the Rule.
For the Good of us All(or For the Ruler of Gods is Protectin Us All)

Youre forgeting that we are talking about Beth folks, they for one can do interesting landscapes.

Ever thought that they would include seasons, that i think is the next step for open world rpgs, with different benefits and during each. If someone would pull that off it would be Beth supported by their new wonderful engine.
