The Last Word: Khajiits

Post » Mon Apr 15, 2013 9:55 pm

With news today that the development team is moving on from the game, it’s unlikely that we’ll get any additional DLC or substantial patch content. This means that those of us who were hoping that Skyrim’s “Khajiit Problem” would be addressed are left… wanting. I get the lore reasons for there not being a ton of Khajiit in Skyrim, but I think they made a mistake in their implementation. Having the caravans be banned from the city, I could get, but why couldn’t there have been normal Khajiit living in the cities? They allow everybody else, even those who they have more reason to hate. A part of me wants to hope they kept Khajiit at a minimum in this game because the next game is going to focus on that Dro'Jizad prophecy that was mentioned alongside the Nerevarine prophecy in “The Hope of the Redoran”, but I doubt they would put an entire game in one of the beast race homelands.

Are you happy with how the Khajiit were implemented and portrayed in Skyrim?

I was naturally bummed the Argonians and the Khajjit got the shaft this time around, but the easy target for me is to just point at the Nords as a race in it's entirety and say "[censored]holes."

The Dunmer enslaved them, yet they were still far more prominent in Morrowind. Not sure if I buy xenophobia as an excuse.

The caravans are banned from the cities for good reason, you can actually buy Skooma from them. Individual Khajiit however are allowed in cities, J'zargo and Kharjo come to mind, and it seems that if they are attending weddings then the caravan khajiit are also allowed in cities (managed this with Ysolda XD)

I said I could understand the caravans being banned, but there are no regular Khajiit living in the cities. It doesn't matter that you can bring an outside follower into the city. That's irrelevant in this case.
