The lay of the land

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:03 am

Greetings, savants.

I want to bring http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=978712 to your attention, concerning a TableTop-conversion of the Elder Scrolls.
Can you give me a few tips on where to find information on the geography, flora and fauna, economy, traderoutes, settlements and cultures, politics etc. of Morrowind(and Tamriel in general), in the late 3rd. era?

And how does magic work? What makes it tick, what powers spells when they are cast?

Concerning magic, it is believed to be powered by the god (Aedra I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong) Magus who was basically killed when Nirn was created. What remains of Magus is the Magicka.

And the Imperial Library is definitely the best place to look for any Elder Scrolls Info

Magnus was one of the gods that created the world, yes. He was not killed, though; he decided to leave creation, and most of the magic left with him.

And his escape left what if known as the sun, and the other lesser spirits with him made the stars. As a result of tearing holes in the void of oblivion, magic leaks out into the world (at least that I what I remember)

Someone link that TR map with terrain types.

And just use the game's magic mechanics, but add spells from other games too.

Remember though, Passwall is easily the most overpowered spell ever created and we love it for that reason.

Also, if you want the most conscise depiction of stuff around the Illiac Bay (ie from daggerfall), search for images of Sentinel, Wayrest, and Daggerfall. Compare with maps, especially maps from the ingame materials. You can then extrapolate out and away until you probably hit the Skyrim and Cyrodil border. Also, blur with architectural points of Anvil and Chorrol the further away you get as you see appropriate.

Also, the Illiac Bay is very similar-looking to a D&D style fantasy setting.

Okay. Thanks, and keep it coming.

Another question: Soulgems.
Where do they come from, who makes them? How are they made? Seems that Molag Bal had a hand it this, but how does it work?
Does the Mages Guild have a magical Soulgem-hen in the cellar?
