The Legend of Zelda

Post » Sat Jan 30, 2010 4:46 am

I just beat Ocarina of Time for the first time on my own... amazing game, it redefines the word "classic". Can't wait for Skyward Sword, I definitely don't regret getting a Wii now.

Twilight Princess was pretty good, but I got stuck on one part and never got around to finishing it.

From what little video I saw of the demo of Skyward Sword I have to say unfortunately I was really not impressed... Hopefully they can tweak the controls but even the guy demonstrating was having trouble with them... I worry the game may be ruined by them trying too hard to integrate their motion controls... Twilight Princess was already meh.

Now saying that I have adored the other 3d console Zelda games (well twilight princess was meh like I said) but I played the crap out of Windwaker, OOT and MM

I didn't like the look of Skyward Sword

I really liked Twilight Princess' look and feel to the game but I felt the controls weren't quite up to par with previous games (I want my shield control to be back)

I didn't really take a liking to Majora's Mask either

It reminded me of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groundhog_Day_%28film%29 and that made me want to shoot myself

I beat Ocarina countless times, never finished Majora's Mask though, IDK why. I thought Twilight Princess was awesome.

The new game looks strange...I just want to play it, I'm sure it will be good.

I'm sort of liking the art style they're using for Skyward Sword. I've been waiting for a new Zelda for a while, hopefully it turns out alright.

Everybody who played it there said the controls worked great, apparently. I guess they were just genuinely having technical problems. I just read that they are supposed to do another demonstration, don't know where though.

You know you can get TP for the gamecube and use the gamecube controller right?

The only Zelda game I haven't absolutely loved was Phantom Hourglass. Phantom Hourglass annoyed me because of the time limit on that main dungeon you go to over and over again.

Skyward Sword looks great and it'll probably replace Wind Waker as my favorite looking Zelda title, maybe even favorite overall if the gameplay is as fun as it looks in the clips I've seen. Wind Waker was great for it's use of colors and over-exaggerated gestures, and Skyward Sword is supposed to be along the same lines, though I like the more realistic character models.

It has a sort of soft feel that reminds me of A Link to the Past for some reason, and as much as I liked Ocarina of Time, I hate the idea of a realistic Zelda game. Zelda is not a mature series in my mind, which is probably why I hated the look and feel of Twilight Princess. I wouldn't even bother with the game if it were along the same lines as TP.

Looks pretty good. I think his pants are too baggy but besides that I like the art style. :P

I wish Majora's Mask was on the virtual console. I'd totally buy some Wii points and get it... well I need some for A Link to the Past, but still MM is my favorite 3D Zelda.

ya I know, the motion controls in TP didn't bother me too much it was the actual game that I was meh on... Really felt like it was missing something

I just hope everything feels fine in the final version of Skyward...

I really like Skyward Sword's graphics, it looks like a mix of realistic and cartoony graphics. Really svcks that it comes out in 2011 though, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait though.

Majora's Mask is on the virtual console, Speaking of MM, should I get it? I could get it on my N64 off amazon for 40+ bucks but If I get it it'll be off the virtual console cuz it's only 1000 Wii points on there. And should I get Twilight Princess? I rented it a year or two ago and really enjoyed it, but never finished it.

I think A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess are excellent games, and the other Zeldas are good too. But I don't really care about the new Skyward Sword, there are only so many times I can replay the same thing, I figure it's time to take a break from the series now, if I want to play Zelda again, I can just replay A Link to the Past instead :P

That said, I think the graphic design of Skyward Sword was very cool. Hope we will see more games using something similiar.

i finished Majora's Mask 100%, but i started 6 years ago.

i've beaten ocarina of time quite a few times, i have to say that is probably the best one there will ever be.

i've always wondered this, and i want y'all to consider this: Super Mario was converted into a DS game, heck they had the whole thing of that game, with more material in it, an entire nintendo 64 game, so why shouldnt they have Ocarina of Time as a DS game? and with Majora's Mask as well on another card? that would be amazing, heck it would make me buy a DS again.

other than that, i have to say i've liked the Z-targeting combat system, and i had hoped they would stay with that system, i am not a fan of toon link.

Majora's Mask is just like Ocarina of Time as far as gameplay goes. It's great, I think it's better than OoT.

Twilight Princess is amazing too.

I ain't buying the new one unless I can use a standard controller...

They seem to be going way too far with the motion control crap now and the way bow controls looks terrible and awkward.

I don't like the cartoonish look this game is presenting. I like the more realistic approach of Twilight Princess.

So i suspect this is only for Wii? With Nintendo not jumping into the HD race it maybe it could be plausible to hope for a GC port too? :hehe: In fact some people said TP looked and controlled better on the Gamecube.

If not, my sister has a Wii, maybe i could buy that game for her and finish it on the side. That's what i did with Metroid Prime 3, however i've not really played it due to the controls. Good thing the PS3 motion sensor is only used for minor stuff, R&C Tools of Destruction uses it quite nicely for example, small short portions instead of everything.

i never have liked motion sensing. ever.

on a lighter note, i liked a link to the past, but i would much prefer the original story and mechnics of OOT to be continued, it just seems that from platform to platform, each game has little of a connection in story or purpose...i've never liked that.

So far it's only for the Wii, no news on it being on Gamecube.

There's no hope of that happening. Nintendo doesn't release Gamecube games anymore.

How was windwaker?

I hated the look of Windwaker when I first saw it, and didn't pay any attention to it until I saw it one day at Wal-Mart for $20, so I decided to try it out. Man, I wish I would've got it earlier..it really is a great game. Sure , the graphics take some getting used to, but Windwaker is a fun game, well worth playing.

How was windwaker?

I remember being one of the haters, but I saw it on a Toonami commercial and decided that it wasn't so bad after all. It remains one of my favorite games.

Hmm, I might get it then. Which is better, Wind waker or Major's Mask? I want to get TP, WW, and MM but I'll get TP first then I don't know if I should get MM or WW after that.
