I am playing through LS at the moment and loving it. However I have a question relating to performance. I have found that after I entered the Bandit Lair and the Primeval Hollow, my frame rates dropped from 15+ to about 6-8, after having played in there for a while. I tried various ways of upping the framerate but the only that seemed to have some luck was to turn music off in the INI, that gained me 2-3 frames but the missions in those areas were still very difficult to get through because of this. I also observed that the sound effects in combat, i.e. magic blasts, creatures roaring, shouting, etc. bugged out when the framerate went down (hence me turning the music off); some of the sound effects just didn't play or were very soft. I thought maybe it might have something to do with LS having its own soundtrack in specific locations, which might have been fighting with the rest of my game sound for priority.

Anyone else experienced this?

I'm experiencing this right now, and it's very frustrating. What's getting me even more is that if you type in 'killall' in the console, my framerate goes back up to around 30. I'm guessing this is because all the enemies are in one, single gigantic dungeon. It's disappointing, really. I enjoyed the mod immensely up until the stage I'm playing, and now that I've experienced such a seemingly vast problem, it's not nearly as fun. :/
Of course, I'll be enjoying it just as much as I did before if there's a solution to my problem that doesn't involve cheating through the console. :V

I downloaded this mod a little while back. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest Oblivion mods ever made, despite the very, very few problems I saw. This mod is be the "measuring stick" that I use for the Oblivion mods I download. Very few things have ever stood up to it, and none have surpassed it.

An excellent job.

Just started with The Lost Spires and so far enjoying the mod. :) Although I do have a question about the dialogue, everything is voiced and all, lips moving, but sometimes a dialogue response doesn't display everything that is being said. Meaning the subtitle text ends with .... and the NPC continues talking. I'm guessing this is intentionally?

Have you guys tried "quiet feet max" which removes the sounds of animal's feet. It's a known cause for stutter. I had the same issue with pack of wolves attacking me (not related to the Lost Spires). Granted it can kill immersion a bit (horse's hooves are very soft) but it's something I can live with.

Taeva sent me to fetch a vial of tumir's equivalent for Vanish OxyPower :D - some cleaning undoubtedly.
I reached a place called Excavation site, spoke to 2 young assisstants but no sight of Tumyr so far.
Waited 24 hours, looked for entrances nearby - nothing.

Now what?

Look inside the tent.
Also note that there is a direct landscape conflict with the Sir Balin quest at this place.

This happens for a couple of lines that I added myself to enhance the immersion factor. Sadly, I wasn't aware of the need to separate long lines out into sections to avoid that problem as I had little experience of actually adding dialogue into the CS. It's not Leo's problem though. It was mine. I just wanted the characters from my voice acting to have a more rounded personality and personal touch....

Sorry for being dense...

Near the end... Found Rythor's note, his key and book Runes Of Cyrodiil.

However, I seem unable to find that lair... any clue?

Where is Rythor's lair?

Please, hurry, a goddess is in danger! Cyrodiil is in danger! Heelp! :D

Actually, Is there a screenshot with all locations and map markers relevant to the lost spires mod? If not, we should make one.

Nvm, found it, died several times under those boulders. 'I like this boulder. It's a nice boulder! :D' if I have to quote Donkey from Shrek.
then after loading for third time the boulders hit the avatar, it was enslaved. Cyrodiil is safe. For now.

Say, shouldn't thew released goddess offer me reward of something? After all, I am a material girl... :D

Headmaster Blade.

Extremely enjoyable.

Now that it is complete, is it safe to put it higher in my load order? So that the mods iTLS overrode now take precedence?

Does anyone know if Lost Spires is fully compatible with Better Cities?

I've got both installed, and have come across something a bit odd:

Just South West of Leyawiin there is a map marker for a place called 'Miro's Scribe Services', and I got a message saying that I had found it whilst walking around the City Walls, but there doesn't seem to be anything (or anyone) there?

Is this a known issue? I've seen there's an Open Cities compatibility patch, but can't find any mention of problems with Better Cities...

This is a great add-on (it goes beyond mod), but I have seem to ran into some...trouble.

I just finished clearing out the
Spoiler
Fifth Spire, and the game crashes every time I try and leave. So I use the console to coc out, and now whenever I try and go back to that area, it crashes again. I never did get the quest update past "I thought Solan died in Lanni (or whatever it's called) I should explore" I didn't find anything else in that spire, no artifacts and no portal to kill a warlock. Is there SUPPOSED to be more there? Or am I just supposed to try and track down Rythor in Chorrol or Cheydinhal?

Oh yes, two glitches:
A) the new music in the various dugeons stops when I either open my inventory or get into battle mode. I've heard that Oblivion's default music timers are really wonky and there isn't much you can do about this. That true?
B) I used the warlock stone enchant thingie (the one that adds resist normal weapons and chameleon) to my greaves and it makes me 100% chameleon, at least visually. And before anyone asks, it's supposed to be 10%. I'm not sure if it is actually 100% in game, as creatures notice me REAL early when I'm not in sneak, and when I am, most creatures never notice me anyway.

Spoiler
I have a problem with the firewall after defeating the avatar. I can escape the first room without problems, evading falling rocks and all, the firewall closes in at a steady pace. But as soon as I enter Hidden Passage I get a messagebox about the pools of water, then as I press the Ok button I'm instantly killed by the firewall. And right after it kills me I see it disappear in the distance at a rapid speed, much much much faster than how it went in the first room. :(

I'd rather not use the console command to skip the escape so is there something I can do to fix this?

P.S. My stats are relatively high due to lots of spells active and enchantments, could this have an effect on how fast the firewall moves?

[edit]
Tried it again without any feather effects and stat fortifying spells. Works good so far, still running for my life ofcourse but atleast I have a chance now. :P

You're right on track. I remember Liquidgraph saying that having too high stats could actually be a problem.

That firewall is exactly why I've never completed the questline. I played it with my very first oblivion character(Shureilia) but not my other 2. I KNOW I wont finish it with Phantasma, because she has 167 speed, 157 without enchantments ^^;;. I might try it with Natasha in the near future, but otherwise, playing up to the fight with a certain someone is good enough. And of course, LS is the first player made quest mod I've ever experienced.

Slightly OT, but why do you need 167 in speed? You must be loading cells every 10 seconds :D My character has 100 (+20 if I need to) and I find the difference barely noticeable.

I figured out my last issue. Basically, it ended up that I had to read the journal in question (
Spoiler
Solan's Journal
) twice (I think it trigger's two updates). Anyway, now I've got a new issue:

Spoiler
Just after I kill Rythor, and equip the Horn, my computer starts freezing. First, when the the spell effect appears and/or hits you, signifying that you freed Lumani. I managed to get around that so I was back where Rythor appears, but now when I run up to the Avatar and swing my sword, it freezes up.

Oddly, the first time I got there, there was no freezing but I died because someone decided that every single enemy in this mod should have a rather high reflect damage.

Edit: I just tried again and it worked. But then I died mysteriously and then when I reloaded...it froze,

About the dieing part...what kind of attacks does this particular creature have? I lost over 3/4 of my health on one hit. (and his other attacks do AT MOST 1/8 of my bar, usually less). The only thing I can think of was:
Spoiler

the spell that drops blocks down on you, like the traps.

An aside about the above mentioned attack, when using OOO, traps are VERY deadly (3/4 to full bar in one hit is very common). As such, the use of traps in this mod (as spell attacks and without the warning they have in vanilla) create several instant death moments where there isn't always something that can be done.

You did very good work here, you and everyone who done work on this mod. It is professional grade.

One thing though I played through most of the main quest and I'm supposed to track down
Spoiler
Rythor
and
Spoiler
hand him his head
. The clues I found in his room wasn't very helpful, so I'm stuck now. Can any one help me out?

Because I wanted my character to be something like me. I can run pretty fast, and I like speed in general. It's around 80 speed when you begin to outrun horses(riding a black horse will feel slow compared to running). And it is quite noticable when you can run from Chorrol to Leyawin in about 15-30min real time. Yes being too fast, the game will have issues catching up, and the faster you are the more chances of getting stutter related CTDs from the game trying to play catch up.

My first characters' speed rating was 87..and I dropped to around 65, and THAT was still too fast.

That said, I'm not all about fast characters anymore. 55-70 seems a happy medium lol.
