The Luggage

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:48 am

Fun topic :)

This is my first game using Cobl's The Luggage. I had no idea what to use it for, since I already have Mero Trading's Stone of Transference storage, and also the amazing Automagic Bags has storage for me for every category. So I had no idea what to use the luggage for.

Then I realized, since The Luggage shows up practically EVERYWHERE (even amazingly in Troll Candle Camp when I got to be an Expert Marksman!) that I should place in it items that I want to use to decorate houses. Plates, bowls, dishes, anything from other mods I want to use for decorating my homes. I just dump decoratives in The Luggage whenever I get to one, and no more opening bags or digging around for stuff I want to use for decorating. It's all right there in The Luggage.

So it got me curious...What do you keep in The Luggage?

I do not use it.

Edit: I think I will toss clothing items in it that I only have installed for aesthetic reason, and will rarely be worn...until I can dump them in a container in a house or something...

I use it for protection of my assorted junk when I die post SI main quest with Wrye Shivering Death. Handy little thing shows up, eats my corpse, stores my items while I'm in the waters of Oblivion, and when I get back, it's pressed linens and pops open when I look at it. Handy when you don't want to get weird looks from people, but just got flushed out of the Waters of Oblivion. Not much of a problem when in the Isles, but I tend to head back to my fancy tower after I die to take a quick look at my books.

I used to use mine for alchemy ingredients, but lately I haven't been using it for anything at all, since I have a mod that adds an alchemy pouch.

I used to use it for absolutely everything I wanted to neither throw away nor keep in my inventory, but it was getting to the point of taking twenty seconds to open, so I moved all my items into specialized containers in my dimensional pocket. Now, it's completely empty... don't know what I'll use it for now

Spare armor, clothing, weapons. Last check - 1757 items in these 3 categories.
I am a bit of magpie when it comes to these 3 groups - in my game I have over 12 GB armors/clothing/weapons.

Potions, poisons, Varla & Welkend stones, repair hammers, torches, soul gems...

When I played a Thief it stored my extra ammunition.

Basically stuff I use on a regular basis but don't need to carry every last one of.

I even have a bunch of silver cutlery, drinking cups, vases, etc inside. Since it appears in every house when I replace all the clay stuff with silver equivalents I can get to them easily.

so wait what is luggage? just like a chest that you put stuff in and no matter where you go, so long as there is a luggage spawn, the items will be in there?
let me see if I have this right.
Say there is a luggage spawn in Leyawiin and put in a glass sword. When you go to Imperial City and find a luggage spawn inside will be a glass sword?

Indeed that is how it works. It's a pretty cool aspect of COBL. Besides the fact that you have to cry like a prepubascent girl to get it.

There's several set spawn points that open up after you gain the luggage - go to Anvil for the one spawn point that you use to enable all the others. There's also scrolls you can buy to place another spawn point for the luggage wherever you want. Typically every inn and player home will have one, as well as guild halls and certain other places. Whether or not a mod-added player home has one will depend on the modder.

erm...what?

so...out of curiousity....if you made a home mod...would it be a good idea to make a COBL version with a luggage spawn?

It would definitely be appreciated by the Cobl users here. Cobl also has other features, such as the alchemical sorters that go very nice in house mods.

Worse comes to wear you can buy a scroll and place the luggage in your house.
I've done that with Frostcrag Spire.

Oh I didn't know there was a Luggage scroll we could buy - I'd love to have a few of those. Does anyone know where exactly to buy them? I've been to many stores and haven't run across them yet.

Mystic Emporium in Imperial City, I know I asked last week. :P

You might have to wait for the store's stock to recycle if you've been in there before activating the luggage.

OK Thanks - I'll go check that out today and see if it's in there. I had problems with his inventory before and have been in there just recently and didn't see the luggage scrolls. But I'll go check. HOpefully it's there.

Has anyone ever done a companion luggage?

I know the cobl one tips a wink to the Terry Pratchett luggage, a companion luggage with multiple legs and a bit of an attitude would be brilliant.

Edit: On second thoughts - probably bad idea, I think it would get stuck in a lot of places and animating the legs would be a nightmare.

Is it difficult to add a Luggage spawn point to a mod? I have this tent mod (Phinix Portable Tent), and it would be cool to have the Luggage in there as well?

I dont know personally, but pretty sure Khettienna does ( in fact the luggage which is in the title screen image for Installers Intro part of Wrye Bash Basics Guide, is a screenshot of the luggage in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22135 - Or Better Benirus Manor .. one of the two )
