The Lunar Talos

Tiber Septim qua Talos still exists, if certain http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Wulf are to be believed.

But how, exactly?

Well, the Eight Aedra orbit the Mundus as the Eight Planets, of definite form but infinite mass.

Nirn's moons, Masser and Secunda, are the flesh of Lorkhan.

Tiber achieved godhood by mantling Lorkhan.

Ergo, Tiber Septim is the moon.

This is obviously a ridiculous notion, but raises a very important question: Where is Talos?

Talos is too amalgamated an entity to have his own planet or a stable location. The Arctus part of him got its due back in Daggerfall, Tiber died (and apparently paid the Nerevarine a visit, hero to hero), and the Underking/Ysmir/Wulfharth is...somewhere (insert hope of his role in Skyrim). When you add the fact that Tiber might have had CHIM and transcended death, or that the Amulet of Kings apparently keeps [part of?] the king's soul, and that he could very well really be part of the moon... its a giant mess.

In light of all that, I'm going to say that Talos is a state of being rather than a person.

I do not agree...

Talos is a unique and defined entity in the pantheon of nine. Pure and simple.

Talos may have mantled Lorkhan, but he is NOT Lorkhan.

People keep making this mistake.

Attaining CHIM and becoming divine does NOT mean you have automatically become an Aedra (or Earthbone).

Transcending death (which is theoretically achievable by everyone) will raise you to divine status like Talos or Pelinal Whitestrake but will not convert you into Lorkhan or any of the other original spirits.

Every mortal in Mundus who can attain CHIM will not become Lorkhan or take Lorkhan's place in the cosmos

Mantling simply means your path to godhood mimicked a given deity period.

People have chosen to elevate Talos and worship him as the god of war and governance. Talos can minister to the desires of his followers because he is now divine. However that does not make him Lorkhan

Lorkhan is a disembodied Aedra whose spirit continuously roams Mundus. Throughout history he has fought for mankind and fought to preserve Mundus under different guises.

Also note that Incarnation is different from Mantling. An Incarnation of Lorkhan IS Lorkhan while someone who mantled Lorkhan is NOT

How did you reach that conclusion about mantling?
