The mage's homestead

Post » Mon Jul 01, 2013 3:11 pm

So I've spent 300 hours as a warrior build and now im beginning a new adventure as a mage. I loving the roleplaying, but I dont know which hold would suit a Mage's homestead. I do have hearthfire so really im going for one of those three, but i dont know which one seems more.... well suited to a wizard.

What are your wizard's interests? That is the question. I have a female Altmer who is a "part-time" College wizard. She has taken the home in Falkreath. She is currently using the library, storage area, and bedrooms as her additions. She has no use for the cellar. She has access to everything she needs, but it is customized. That is the point after all.

I might chose the swamp as it seems to fit more with my character. He is adark elf and im considering to make him a vampire lord . The eary and misty hold of hjaalmarch might suit him well.

I also am playing a mage as my 2nd character - she has her main house as Windstad. That was because I decided this time around to side with the vampires in HF so the location is convenient.

the morthal plot has the fish hatchery if you practice alchemy. otherwise its really just about which location suits your/your characters personality more.

I would say the gloomy marsh and Winstad manor as well as the hatchery. Put on the hothouse wing along with Alchemist's tower and plant more ingredients in your garden and it's tailor made. Your enchanting table can go inside on the upper floor as well.

That's the one I did for my female Breton vamp Mage.

My mage character also lives in Windstad, due to its secluded location. I chose the Library, Enchanting tower, and Alchemy tower because I thought they fit a mage character. I might consider taking down the enchanting/alch towers(since you get those stations in your main room anyway) in favor of bedrooms, trophy room, or something else if I decide to start a family on my mage.

My mage also chose the marsh lands, cause she loves alchemy and enchanting. She is also a vampire, but not a vampire lord. She has her garden, the greenhouse, the storage and the library. She also has the cellar with the coffin in it. To her, doing it this way she gets almost everything. The alchemy table, the enchanters table, the greenhouse for growing ingredients along with garden, the storage for all her plunder, and the cellar for her armor making and coffin, along with the divines. She just love it.

I tend to use the Hjaalmarch (Morthal) home as my mages retreat otherwise I like Solitude, Markath and Whiterun

Castle Volkihar. It's secluded, and no one cares what weird experiments you conduct.

Hehe, after I tried earlier today I realised that you cant! I assumed you could go back to the draft table and rebuild one of your wings. Boy was I wrong lol. Im stuck with my towers. Oh well, I can always have my family live in my solitude house where its safe, so I can do my mage business with some privacy out at windstad.

When I made my houses for the Hearthfire add-on on my main character I made one for a warrior, one for a mage and one for a rogue.

in the Pale i made it for a warrior and chose Uthgerd the Unbroken as my steward.

The Hjaalmarch home I made for a mage and chose Illia as my steward.

The Falkreath home I made for a rogue (thief / assassin) and I think it was Annekke Crag-Jumper as my steward.

I can't remember all the rooms without playing the game but the warrior home had I think trophy room and armor Room, The mages home had enchanting tower and library and the rogues home had the alchemy and greenhouse

You can reinstall Hearthfire, it will remove all your homes and you can rebuild them. However it is a bit of a pain.
