the magic of Oblivion

so i've had Oblivion for about 4 or 5 years and i have to say for some reason holds a magic that for some reason i can't leave or explain. when i picked this up, i was a FPS guy and that was that. sure, i played the Final Fantasies and other JRPG's and i liked them for what they were, but once the story was done i was good. as a matter of fact, they were so linear after Bethesda sandbox games, i can't really call them RPG's rather than just a good story with some good gameplay. but i never really was a fantasy guy. until i picked up Oblivion...so what is it? even other people when they pick this game up for the first time whether 15 or 70 get so immersed...even when they say they hate it, yet have 500 hrs at least...what holds the magic for us? are we just a certain kind of person or maybe i was a fantasy guy and just didn't know it? don't know...but i either way, i'm pretty sure Elder Scrolls has me for life...
