The main quest

Maybe for safety's sake, I ought to insert a spoiler here - don't read unless you've played FO3 and seen at least Dev Diary #1...

Spoiler
You know, in Fallout 3, there were different ways of stumbling upon the PC's father - either one could go all the way from Galaxy News Radio-Rivet City- Vault 112, or simply Rivet City-Vault 112. Or even stumble across 112 without going to any of the previous places.

Now, I wonder if the same may be a possiblity in Fallout New Vegas? We know that part of the main quest involves finding Benny. So then, there should be different ways of finding him - especially since he seems to be a well-known person of sorts. Logically, the way to track him down would perhaps be to be to track down the Khans whom he was seen working together with and get his whereabouts from them. However, Dev Diary #1 seems to imply that there are other sources you might find out his whereabouts from as well. Thoughts?

Finally! A non-linear way of completing the main quest! (Sarcasm, knew this for quite a long time.)

As far as we know, entering the strip is the only way to find him at all. You can get there by several means.

Yes, I guess that much is true - just like your father in FO3 is only found in ONE location. I wonder how many we'll be able to find put his whereabouts from, however. In F03 our only informants were Three Dog and Madison Li, but here the potential for those who could tell us his location is much higher. Althrough I doubt they've made it possible to ask all 2000 named NPCs about him, surely a greater number of people we can get to know this from than in FO3 should be available...

I remember it was either a dev diary or an video interview, there was a screen shot of you talking to a NCR person and some other person where it showed parts of a conversation and the topic of the suited guy that shot you or something similar to that text appearing on the screen.

Its probably possible though I mean look at the previous fallouts you could skip parts of the main quest

That sounds like dev diary # 1 :) .

True enough. I expect New Vegas to follow this proud tradition of the Fallout games as well then :D .

That's a very good question actually, I'm hoping that he'll be a bit more difficult to track down (Though anyone who's obsessed with New Vegas knows where he's at by now) But still, it'd be nice to go around asking about him, and having some answers match up, and some don't.

I think you might be reading too much into it.

If we have to choose alliances, for example, it goes without saying that we must be able to get information from our alliance that we possibly won't be able to get from the opposing faction anymore.

It might also simply mean that there is no set order in which you get the information, you can go a,b,d or b,c,d or c,b,a or etc

I don't think that there can be many either/or situations in a game like this because it starts to eat up accessible content.
