The Manly Deal

What about that teacher who beat the studant with (hmmm I cant remember what it was) yelling "DIE, DIE, DIE" didnt kill the kid, but damn he tried.
Also while you can own guns in the UK, I dont know many people with automatic weapons... So its a bit of a difference. Personally I dont see the need for automatic weapons, for hunting single shot would probabally be fine, same for defence too (I know you cant use guns int the UK this refers to america) I mean if a guy breaks in 1 shot should be enough, you dont need the shoot them 10 times to kill them. I just see automatic weapons as over the top personally.

Defensive firing means you keep firing until the threat stops. In most states (recalling from 2nd hand evidence here), aiming to wound (anywhere but head/centre mass) is considered grevious bodily harm. In theory, yes, you should only need one. But what if you miss in your panic? What if your first shot on a deer misses something vital? The follow up shot needs to be taken quickly because that deer will run 2 miles then drop dead in pain. That's inhumane. Semi-automatic systems have been around since the late 19th century. Its a tool, so why not use it?

True, but an AK is over the top, semi automatic rifles ok I suppose, incase you miss the first shot, but your still not going to need an AK unless your in the army or something,

Or unless your burglar has an AK47. Because most of the time, criminals who have guns obtain them illegally. Someone who makes their living by engaging in violent crime isn't going to care about whether or not proper procedures were followed in obtaining a firearm.

Like my mate said the other day, at least making guns a common commodity over here would reduce all that knife crime we've been hearing of  lol

There are other benefits. You ever smelled cordite burning?

Like [censored] cinnamon, I tell ya. Well, in terms of pleasantness.

Please don't replace all the cinnamon in your diet with gunpowder because some random Nyarlathotep wannabe told you to.

What kind of a burglar carries an AK-47!?
I'm pretty sure the most common guns used in robberies are .38 revolvers and Tec-9s.

Assault rifles, even rifles in general are a bad idea for home defence in urban areas because of their penetration power, a handgun or shotgun with medium game sized buckshot is much more safe.

Yes that was what I was thinking too, the true American oddity is this obsession with the truck. Try parking one of those in an average European city.

I think this has nowhere to go from here except downhill into a pro-gun anti-gun debate.

I'd like to shoot the lock off this thread but fear it's be relocked very soon.
