The destruction of the Amulet of Kings (its stone) effectively makes it not working I think. Right?

I thought that it ushered in the dissolving of the Empire, but it also allows for the return of the Ayleids. I'm not sure though.

No more Amulet = white gold tower not much use.

Dissolution of the empire is the more immediate effect (and even that is not that quick)

The tower itself is the key. The fact that it still stands is what matters, imo.

but no orichalc tower though the intercept mentions it.

You're looking in the wiki. :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orichalcum

But references to sunken continents aside, you won't find much about Towers beside the Adamantine Tower. There never was a focus on it.

Stones

All the Stones are magical and physical attempts to copy the Zero Stone. They allow a tower to focus its energy to mold creation. Many times the Stones borrowed from Oblivion and attached the power to the Tower. The builder of the Towers “took” from Oblivion because it is difficult to bypass it in an attempt to tap the Aetherius. It has been done, but the cost was high. In comparison, it is much easier to tap into the power of Oblivion.

The Stones collected “creatia” that came into the Void from Aetherius.

The Daedric Realms were formed in the same way, using extra energy from the Aetherius to build each realm. The realms of Oblivion are more “capricious” then the Towers on Mundus. . . Sometimes!

The Altmer tired to emulate “the will of Anuiel” [Order?]. The Chimer rebelled against aedric ordering and measures and followed Veloth to Red Mountain to “the Stone that is not a Stone that is” [Heart of Lorkhan]. The worst Tower, Walk-Brass, went beyond creation into dis-creation. The Numidium posses a threat to the Emperor [Empire], but it is a small part of a larger evil.

The White-Gold Tower has a stone called Chim-el Adabal, AKA the Amulet of Kings

The orichalc tower is mentioned in there as well

In greek orichalc was and still is sometimes used as another name for bronze (or brass)

Brass and bronze are similar which is confusing for TES as there is already a brass tower (the anumidium)

Brass is any alloy of copper and zinc Bronze is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive, but sometimes with other elements such as phosphorus, manganese, aluminum, or silicon

I don't know what is happening to the Crystal Tower and Green Sap or indeed the Orichalc, if anyone has read anything then do let us know.

The PGE 3rd mentions that the walking city of Falinesti has stopped and taken root, before the Oblivion Crisis. I've wondered if it was that Tower's way of battening down the hatches before a storm. Maybe it knew that the Oblivion Crisis and the fall of empire were coming.

"And yet there are signs of other forces stirring. The Wild Hunt has been sighted for the first time in over five hundred years, although to what purpose is not yet clear. Falinesti, the “walking city” of trees, has rooted itself for the first time in recorded history. A new Bosmer prophet has arisen, known only as the Precursor, who preaches that the old Forest God Y'ffre is returning with new gifts for his favored people. Whether these are isolated events, or signs of some great change coming to Valenwood, remains to be seen."

Well i'm not sure if Akatosh's statue is new tower or if it's replacing the key to the old, but either way White Gold stands.

I'd be inclined to believe that it is something new entirely. Not a tower, but more a symbol of Akatosh's (and maybe other Aedra's) commitment to drawing a line between Oblivion and Mundus.
