The map of Tamriel

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 5:46 pm

I found this map. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/854/tamriel.jpg/

I belive its at the start of Skyrim's timeline.

But the question is, Is it that accurate?

I do have read alot of lore about Tamriel. But did Vhardenfell totally disappeard? I have read dussin of lore sites and they all get 50/50 about this.
So, is seems that the empire in my own eyes don't seem that large anymore.

Let the discussion begin.

I believe so. But didn't they set up two puppet states with those names?

The Dominion is tiny compared to the empire + isn't there more man then mer in tamreil? I'm suprised Argonia isn't fighting the empire as well..

It doesn't say in more in the lore. Just that the Argonians occupied the rest of Morrowind. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can still see Vvardenfell on vanilla Skyrim's 3D map. It didn't disintegrate into water.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Great_War#The_Second_Arnesian_War and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Fourth_Era

The Empire is now a shadow of its former glory. Valenwood and Elsweyr had been ceded to the Thalmor, Black Marsh had been lost to Imperial rule since the Oblivion Crisis, Morrowind had yet to fully recover from the eruption of Mount Vvardenfell, and Hammerfell was plagued by infighting between the Crown and Forbear factions. Only High Rock, Cyrodiil, and Skyrim remained prosperous and peaceful.

The southern half of Morrowind is ultimately conquered by the Argonians. Since Argonia had already left the Empire, south Morrowind was then forced to secede.

After five years, the war ends in a stalemate with the signing of the Second Treaty of Stros M'kai. The Aldmeri Dominion withdraws from Hammerfell entirely.

4E 40s — Red Mountain erupts; Vvardenfell is destroyed.

In Vivec's absence, the Ministry of Truth becomes unstable. Vuhon creates an Ingenium that uses at first dozens of dying souls, then a small number of living ones to stabilize the rock. The soul of Sul's wife Ilzheven was among them. In a fight to free her, the Ingenium is destroyed and the rock crashes into the city of Vivec with all the energy it originally had. The impact causes Red Mountain to erupt and destroys the entire island of Vvardenfell, as well as causing massive destruction to the rest of the province.

So yes, the map looks accurate.

As far as I know, mainland Morrowind's not been overrun by Black Marsh. Sure, they invaded and the border moved north, but I'm pretty sure a lot of it is still Dunmer (if in shambles).

It's now two Kingdoms who are independent though both basically Thalmor puppets, client-states.

Vvardenfell got destroyed as in a volcano erupts and its ash and lava destroys all the plant and wildlife. The island is still there.

Also some cities in Cyrodiil don't exist anymore..

Such as Bravil.. It's gone.. Burned down.. Not like I cared for that city..

I think Leyawiin was raided..

Anvil and Skingrad should be destroyed.. I presume a fort was where Kvatch lay so I am assuming that was destroyed as well..

That's I what I thought they meant by destroyed but I suppose some could argue that it was taken by the sea as well. I don't know,

As far as I know southern part of Hammerfell (not sure which exactly) should also be under Altmeri Dominion.

this one is correct from what i know, but it does not take the stormcloaks into account (who, at the start of the stormcloak-empire war, had at least half of skyrim under their rule)

actually Hammerfell continued the fight against the Thalmor and kicked out the remaining forces, guess Hammerfell keep some spare reserves.

Really most of the map is known based of things mentioned in Skyrim. The big question is Morrowind. It is implied that the Argonians do not own the whole of the province but I also remember an Imperial Guard in Riften mentioning the city being used as a supply line for a push into Morrowind.

woah woah woah, those imperials think they can wage a war with argonians? they can hardly defend themselves from the dominion, they do not have a chance at invading argonia :chaos:

All hope is not lost in Morrowind. If you read Lord of Souls there is a chance that the province will bounce back.

What im wondering about is whats going on in argonia during and after the great war?
