The Market

So I was looking over the mercantile perks and thought it'd be fun to get to the point where I could invest in shops, but I couldn't figure out how it was possible to get that high of a mercantile skill without expending hours pointlessly selling loot or losing money to re-buying loot and re-selling it to the same vendor, or if it was even worth it. I also thought of MW's market system and the variation in regional prices and remembered the fun that was in itself to be a traveling trader. (As well as my experience with EVE online's free market system, but I'll leave that out of this forum...)

What with the very low (if not worthless) prices on clutter I found it hard to see if there was a variation in regional prices at all.. Does anybody know for certain if there are differences in prices for goods depending on region/type of store in OB? And if there is... is it enough to make gold off of by solely buying and selling goods in different places of Cyrodiil?

As far as I know the only things that affect merchant prices are their disposition towards you and their own mercantile skill.

As far as I know, items are the same price in all regions so there is no way that you can play the economy to your advantage, since there is no economy really.

Merchants will always pay less than what the item is worth so there's no point buying things to sell them on either.

I've never played Morrowind so I don't know how Oblivion differs from it. I do know merchants will only buy things that relate (loosely I admit) to their shop. So you won't be able to sell potions at an armour shop, for example.
