Ah the age old question, won't get involved as it usually is one of the subjects that start major arguments, especially in bars along with religion, politics and sport ;p

Biologically yes. That is what our instincts compel us to do. But humans are more than animals, we can choose what we want to do, how to live our lives.

I chose "You only live once, so make it a good on (but not on others expense)".

We are self-aware accumulations of matter, matter created by the death of a giant star. Our matter, our conception, our gestation, our entire lives and our deaths, all follow the laws of physics. We are a part of nature as much as any stone, any plant or any star. To look for meaning in that is illogical. You might as well ask for the meaning of a single grain of sand's existence. Now, you can ask what our overriding objective is, or which aspect of our lives we value the most, but I find that searching for 'meaning' is as useful as listening for the sound of light. They are incompatible.

Why bother, while you contemplate the meaning of life. Some else is out there living it.

animals choose what to do as well, and they've seem to have less conflict with the issue than we do. by those arguments alone, leaving aside many more convicting ones aside, I'd say humans are less than animals.

but basicly, what vatrou said.

Good point. Us humans are too smart for our own good.

And a "like" too for VATROU's post
