The Memory Den

Whatever it's use I can guarantee one thing. The fact that it has been shown already in the trailer and the concept art means that it is vital to the main story.

Agreed. I'm really hoping we'll get to see our PC's time on the battlefield, or maybe a prewar Boston. I'm also hoping that'll mean we can build towns that are actually modern looking, or maybe replant some trees.

One possible use: let's just say that one of the major characters in-game, most likely one near the top of the food chain in the Institute, is an advanced synth. Except they're not. They just believe that they're a synth, because that's what they have been made to believe ever since they were abducted from vault 111 as a six-week-old baby.

When we finally face this individual on the battlefield and realise who they actually are, how would we convince them that they are really human?

Answer: we incapacitate them and bring them to the Memory Den, where they recall their own version of the scene from the tutorial.

I really like OP's idea of seeing other peoples past. That would be the coolest use IMO. Be even cooler if we had to find the memories. Wouldn't make much sense at all but would be neat

I already had a theory that i posted http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1524750-a-little-theory/#entry24114426 about the memory den. Short story, it would be a place to relive menmories in a virtual simulator, do i guess you could also relive other peoples memories too.

Relive the moon battle! There's no way that they would introduce lore for a historic battle on the moon and a place called the memory den where you relive memories and not have these two things be related. GIVE ME MY MOON BATTLE!!!!

That's what I think. It has advertisemants for "girls, girls, girls" out the front too, although that could be for another establishment.

Having said that, wouldn't be surprised if it did relate to a memory simulation or something, given the context of The Commonwealth's technology.

Could be its just a go go bar with a cool name. (make memories at the den)

Or maybe it is robot themed.

But I would much rather think it is far more sinister, Instead of seeing others memories..... You go here to sell your own, yep gone for good but something every human has for trade. (evil scientist laugh as I slap in a new life for Synth marK )

Maybe there could be a quest to help the owner who can't remember where they left their keys.

Oooh, the irony.

Was about to make a thread about the memory den but since this one already exists- I wonder if memories can be collected, like a more immersive Keller family transcript type thing or Harry Potter in the Half Blood Prince (Dumbledore pieced together Riddle's past using memories). Also, I wonder if it will be used for DLC ( a la Anchorage)

I could totally see this for a treasure hunt concept. Maybe this guy/gal hid something of value and scattered his/her memories around for their partner to find and then locate the valuable object(s).

My guess is that it has a bunch of VR pods with holo-tapes from Pre-War. So the tutorial won't be the only part of the game that shows what America looked like in 2077.

I'm wondering if it is a virtual simulator like Tranquility Lane where you can do whatever the programs allow you to do for entertainment...or able to relive your own memories, or those of others.

Could offer sims like Operation Anchorage. Also wonder if VSS (Virtual Strategic Solutions) is based out of Boston and that is where the technology originated.

Whatever it ends up being in game, there is plenty of precedent for the virtual tech it seems to allude to.

What an "in story" vehicle for DLC! Instead of going somewhere else, you just get dropped into a VR sim. I see potential in that.

Of course, I would still like to go somewhere else for "real" in the game.

It's a Brothel. The Fancy name and F4's theme just lead to wile speculation.
