The Mid West Fan Made Faction Convention Sign Up

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:46 am

Here are my ideas for Midwestern factions for a Fallout convention. This is only the sign up thread.

Here is a link to the convention-->http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1369455-chicago-convention-a-fan-made-mid-western-faction-convention/#entry20681371

The Syndicate-
After the Great War dozens of gangs took control of Chicago and in 2254 the Enclave Chicago outpost managed to unite them under the Treaty of Chicago, forming the Syndicate. They had decided there symbol would be a crow rising into the air. The Syndicate has a perfect set up, they are within Brotherhood territory so they are safe from the Radiation and the MLA, the Brotherhood capital is in the heart of their territory, forcing the Brotherhood to cooperate with them, and they have a good relationship with the Communist Republic of Detroit, giving them many cars and small arms.

The Radiation- Tommy Bozzer
After the Brotherhood lost most of its territory during the Brotherhood-Mutant War a group of peaceful, religious ghouls formed the Children of the Wastes. They believed that ghouls were the next step in evolution and should be worshipped like gods, not looked down upon like lesser beings. They had multiple bases, including the Reservation, Stronghold, Wigh an Paterso, Waste, Rad Nation, and Radiation. Brotherhood saw Radiation as a perfect military base to get their influence to the town Dirty Water so they told the Children of the Wastes to abandon it. The Children of the Waste refused, they did not want to abandon their home and the Brotherhood attacked. They wiped out the base and declared that they would ‘cleanse’ the MW from all ghouls. Outraged by this and saddened by the loss of Radiation the Children of the Wastes beliefs changed, they no longer wished to spread the word of ghoul rights peacefully, they now realized they fell upon deaf ears. They wished to be gods to men and they realized the only way to do that is through violence. They began military campaigns, slaughtering and enslaving humans, the adopted a new name for themselves, the Radiation in honor of the base that had been destroyed by the Brotherhood. There were many scientists within the Radiation, they experimented on humans to try and find a way to get ghouls to reproduce. They now terrorize the wastes as a brutal fighting force. Their symbol is the radiation symbol.

The Mutant Liberation Army- Radioactive Bacon
A number of mutants at a labor camp broke free, stealing weapons, and going out into the wasteland when the Brotherhood was at its prime. They began going around releasing other mutants and humans who were mutant rights activists. They eventually formed the Mutant Liberation Army, attacking the Brotherhood and saving mutants. Eventually St. Louis fell under their control, the city that once was home for most of the supermutants, and now functions as their capital. In the past decade many of the leaders of the MLA have been trying to find a permanent government (they have had four monarchies, two dictatorships, and lastly a republic which has been under Martial Law for the past twenty years). After that the war against the Brotherhood has been switching between in the MLA’s favor and the Brotherhood’s but has recently went bad for both factions.

The Brotherhood- Styles
The MWBoS after the Barnaky Ending, they once controlled all of the territory from the Rocky Mountains to Lake Erie but after an MLA attack on the sensor array station that controlled their robots was destroyed, the fighting robots entered a self-destruct sequence and the non-combat robots continued on their last orders. They retreated back to the Chicago area, temporarily shutting down Barnaky and bringing him from Vault 0 to Chicago. After that and many more years at war the Brotherhood is very weak, they’re barely able to control the small area around Chicago that makes up their land now. Their symbol is a steel ring with two BoS symbol swords through it in an X formation.

Talon Company- Agrona
With Talon Company gaining very negative reputation from their gruesome work in the Capital Wasteland (Known by Talon Company as the Capital Incident) they decided to spread west. Along the way they became rivals with the Red Hands, a large mercenary group from the MW similar to Talon Company. Although they still fight from time to time they have decided to make Chicago mark the borders of their turf.

UPDATE Both the Red Hands and Talon Company have made deals with the Brotherhood to attack all mutans on sight.

The Red Hands- Magus the red
An elite outfit of organized and well-equipped mercenaries who follow the strict orders of an omnipresent leader. Even as far as mercenaries go, they are the most vicious and merciless mercenary group known to exist in the Midwest.

The Red Hands and Talon Company are rivals, with Talon Company controlling almost every contract east of Chicago and the Red Hand controlling everything west. But both factions strike fear into both their targets and employers.

UPDATE Both the Red Hands and Talon Company have made deals with the Brotherhood to attack all mutans on sight.

Far Go Traders-
Once a trading company in California, when the Crimson Caravan Company drove them to near bankruptcy they signed a contract with the Caesar’s Legion and worked for them for many years. Three years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas they had absolute control over trade in Caesar’s Legion territory. However once the Legionaries and the Sons of Jupiter split away from Caesar’s Legion the Far Go Traders joined them and then branched off, still having absolute control of trade within their territory but also in the war torn, rich MW as well. In Brahmin City about 40% of all of those caravans are employed by the Far Go Traders.

The Communist Republic of Detroit-
After the Great War most of Detroit was reduced to a large crater. A man named Howard Day lead his slavers into a part of the city that was not badly hit (the western part) and set up a large monarch slaver faction. Forty years later the kind hearted heir of the slaver community decided to abolish the slavery and named his free settlement the Kingdom of Detroit. He lived as a monarch for twelve years until he found an elementary school textbook that explained communism. Liking the idea that all were equal and, checking to make sure he did not turn it into a dictatorship like Pre-War communist countries, he made his settlement communistic and renamed it the Communistic Republic of Detroit. Even in 2294 the Communistic Republic of Detroit’s government is working fine, they have even expanded their borders and formed a second settlement called Troy. They have been persistently trying to annex Odin but continue to fail.

The Red Stingers- Undead Fiend
After their defeat at the hands of the Warrior the Red Stingers changed from a raider gang into citizens of the Brotherhood’s settlements. However many of them couldn’t turn away from their criminal ways and banded together to form the only crime family of the Mid-West, with a smuggling ring, casinos, breweries, and hotels for profit. They eventually began to profit greatly from this, between selling high powered weaponry to the Red Hands and MLA, selling the extremely powerful drugs made by the Scorpion’s Bite tribe, racking in millions from their businesses, and bribing town mayors to impose taxes that eventually bankrupted their competitors, they became a criminal superpower. For almost a century they lived like this until the Treaty of Chicago was signed and the tribes of Chicago became tribe-gangs, united as the Syndicate. The Syndicate was the second crime family of the Mid-West; they muscled in on the Red Stingers business, using their power over the Brotherhood to close down many of the Red Stingers’ warehouses of illegal weapons and drugs. After many blows the Red Stingers fired back at the Syndicate by knocking down the skyscraqer where Nicholas Vanuer, the leader of the Armitages, lived. He had been the most influential and powerful of the crime bosses, he had made many plans that hurt the Red Stingers and helped their own businesses. He had died in that attack which the Syndicate regarded as a tragedy but the Red Stinger regarded it as a turning point. They’re now equal in strength, the Red Stinger influencing the MLA while the Syndicate influences the Brotherhood.

The Legionaries (N/A)
After the deaths of Legate Lanius and Caesar Lucius rose to power as a weak leader. After poorly ruling Caesar's Legion for three months a twenty-six year old man named Daniel Tanning (before his tribe was absorbed into CL) claimed his name was Augustus Caesar and he was the only son of Caesar (which is a lie). Many supported him, (because he was so charismatic and has some similarities to Caesar in appearance) including most of the Praetorian Guard who wished to find a better leader for Caesar’s Legion than Lucius, and he attempted to overthrow Lucius. The attack failed and Augustus fled east with his supporters, most of the Praetorian Guard had to flee with him due to their support. He changed his followers’ way of life greatly. Women became equal to men in almost any area (except men are the only ones who can be warriors), warriors now carry shields, they wear metal plated body armor, they worship Minerva (Athena) instead of Mars (Ares) along with the other Roman Gods (to a lesser extent), they have well established cities with art (mostly paintings and music) and literature (history books and fictional novels) being made, and only middle and low class men through the ages of 20-25 were obligated to serve in the military. However people could volunteer as early as 15 and stay until they were 65, and if the upper class wanted to they could volunteer. The Praetorian Guard guards the city of Taberna, keeping Augustus Caesar safe while he builds his armies to take over the Legion’s lands.

Caesar’s Legion back east is at war with a coalition of House’s New Vegas, the New California Republic, and the Empire of the Khans (House and the Courier are keeping the NCR and the EotK from attacking each other, telling them they must stop Caesar’s Legion before they resolve their own issues).

Sons of Jupiter (N/A)
When the Legionaries split from Caesar's Legion to form a similar dictatorship with less rules a group of influential soldiers also headed east with their followers to form a republic called the Sons of Jupiter worshipping the king of the gods over the god of war and all other Roman gods. They are currently experiencing problems with the lack of any official army and a war with the New Confederacy to the east and Caesar's Legion to the west.

The New Confederacy- Tandiman1
Spoiler

Background- Founded in a small farming town called Wheatville in post-war Geogira in 2183. The mayor of Wheatville, James Davis (leader from 2170-2181), had dreams of rebuilding what his grandfather (who had died at ninety-eight in 2165) told him about pre-war life. His dream was passed down to his son Jefferson who became mayor after his father's retirement in 2181. Jefferson's mother, Susan, had been the leader of the historian society in Wheatville as well as the local teacher. She had taught him all about governments of history (the documents were saved thanks to no bombs falling directly upon their small town and the libraries and schools surviving) as well as the psychology of human beings and what kind of people reacted positively to certain treatment. He used this knowledge to make peace with an eco-tribe two miles up the road (they loved nature and thought that towns and farming are what lead to the Great War and the destruction of Earth (they're kind of right)) by persuading them that progress is the only possibility of any future for Earth. Eventually they made peace with all of the tribes and towns within thirty miles of Wheatville and became the center of trade in the region. Jefferson's powerful influence stretched to all of those settlements and they convinced them to form a confederacy with him at the head of it. This confederacy voted on the best course of action on issues that affected more than one settlement within it, assembled a combined army-police force to help against foreign and domestic issues, and decided a single currency (A coin system with the face of Jefferson on the one that is equal to five caps, the Confederate Hall on the one worth ten caps, and the Memorial of the Columbian Wars on the one worth twenty caps. The last one wasn't added until 2203, two years after the Columbian Wars ended.). In 2190 Davis officially renamed the Confederation of Banks County (that is where it started) to the New Confederacy and renamed Wheatville New Montgomery.
Their influence stretched across all of northern Georgia and into southeastern Tennessee and western South Carolina. When they expanded south they ran into an empire called the Empire of Columbia. Davis saw how their agricultural skills were primitive compared to the New Confederacy's while on his way to meet their ambassador and they offered to teach them better techniques as well as a seat in the New Confederation in exchange for peace and free trade. The ambassador refused and gave them a much more sinister offer, he offered Davis to formally surrender to Columbia or to be killed there and then as the ambassador drew a gun. To which Davis responded with these famous words, "A nation's life is worth more than a man's but would you really wish to murder one such as me? I am revered among the entire New Confederacy and most of this land once known as Georgia; many even under the control of your empire love me. To kill me is to sign away the life of your empire." This caused enough of a distraction for Davis to disarm the man and turn the gun on him. He escaped and quickly made his way back to the New Confederacy's land. The next day the Empire of Columbia formally declared war on the New Confederacy. This war was tragic, it claimed the lives of thirty thousand people and only ended with the execution of Emperor George Roberts in 2201. The next year a member of a secret society called the Remnants of Columbia assassinated Davis. After mourning the loss of their great leader the New Confederacy showed that, although built by Davis, he wasn't necessary for the nation's survival. The New Confederacy spread its influence throughout all of Georgia by 2209 and through all of Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, southern Kentucky, the Carolinas, and southern Virginia by 2256. They had ran into the Kingdom of Florida in 2241 and their southern border was set just like their western border, the Mississippi River. Both the KoF and the NC mainly kept to themselves although tourism and trade between the two was not overly uncommon.

Society- Their society is mainly Christian although it is not forced upon their population. The New Confederacy allowed the slavery of extremely mutated creatures such as ghouls and swampfolk but, thanks to the Kingdom of Florida's influence, slavery was declared illegal in 2245. The western half of the country is very rural with lots of farms and only a handful of industrial factories while the eastern half is the exact opposite.

Technology- Trains are connected between every town and are used to quickly move soldiers in between positions. They are armed with Trail Carbines, Repeaters, Hunting Rifles, and 9mm Pistols with a few sniper rifles in the mix.

The Manerot Trading Company-
Founded in 2203 when the Brotherhood decided they wanted one unified trading company and so they forced all caravans in the MW to form a single caravan company. Fifty-two year old Joseph Manerot who had the most reliable caravan since 2179 was chosen to be the leader of this company. He hired workers to make roads out of cement in between every settlement to make travel easier and he came up with the concept of Rest Stops where caravan drivers could rest in luxury for up to three days before going back on the road, and Manerot decided that different types of caravan merchants (gun merchants, water merchants, medical merchants, etc.) would be required to travel together with each having the same amount of guards that they usually had (two to four), this helped make the caravans stronger against raider attacks. By 2209 he had created one of the best caravan systems in history.

In 2294 things are different. After his death in 2213 the Manerot Trading Company went on a slow decline, many of their Rest Stops began becoming raider bases, they would wait until tired caravan drivers were inside the walls to attack them while others that were rarely being used fell apart, only ones that are near settlements and are frequently being used are still in good working condition. The Manerot Trading Company now only ones about 50% of all trade in the MW and are huge rivals with the Far Go Traders who control 40% (the other 10% is freelance).

Dekker Republic-
Dekker was named in honor of the great General Dekker many years after his death. Dekker was Barnaky’s right hand man for many years before retiring here; it was called the Creek then, where he lived until his death. Eventually a concentration camp was built on the outskirts of Dekker. It was named the Battle Creek Detainment Camp, built in the ruins of the Battle Creek Country Club, where influential people, revolutionaries, and those who have spoken out against the Brotherhood from all over the Mid-West are brought to be kept away from society. A week before the game begins they riot, overpowering the guards and taking control of the prison. Two days later they took control of all of Dekker. They have armed themselves with Battle Creek Detainment Camp Riot Gear, Marksman Carbines, Riot Shotguns, and Grenade Launchers. Now the Battle Creek Escaped Convicts have Dekker fortified and the Brotherhood are gathering forces to take back Dekker. They wish for freedom from their suppressors.

UPDATE The Dekker Rebellion has made peace with the Brotherhood and formed the Dekker Republic. They have also formed alliances with the Red Stingers and Talon Company.

Champion- f8lcobra
A wealthy town that is well known for its fighting arenas. There are four, the Scrayper (named after Thomas Scrayper, the founder of the first fighting arena in Champion, the only one to offer every form of fighting (melee, unarmed, small guns, and all weapons), the Bloody Blade (a melee fighting arena), the Iron Fist (the unarmed fighting arena), and Weapon's Free (offers a free for all fighting arena, meaning you can use any kind of weapon). The only things in Champion are clinics, weapon dealers, drug dealers (although drugs are illegal in Champion) and, of course, the arenas. They wish to expand their business.

Gale- paladin lewis
A large town that used to be a tribal village, it's enemy was the tribe to the north, now the town of Clinto. They were at war for decades; until the Brotherhood showed up and forcibly turned Gale and Clinto into normal towns so their caravans from Napers could have a route to Lance and Vendetta (Vendetta was under the Brotherhood control for another seven years after that). They still despise one another, even in 2294 (the year I think the game should take place).

UPDATE Gale has formed an alliance with Spring and sent Yao Gui trainers to Spring. They have also wiped out the Seizures, become allies with the Brotherhood, to many citizens' dismay, and are no escorting prisoners from Clinto to Champion to fight in arenas for entertainment.

Clinto-
Founded by a man who called the town Clinto after reading the sign out front of the ruins. He convinced wandering tribals to live there and he spread propoganda about the evils of the people of Gale who he said were brutal, cannibalistic savages (he once lived in Gale but was outcasted for stealing) and he gathered much support over his campaign in eliminating Gale (he holds a pretty big grudge). Generations after he died they still hated Gale, and when it was made into a normal town by the Brotherhood they still despised Gale, their parents telling tales of Gale tribals kidnapping children for cultic ceremonies.

Spring- Supervaultboy
Once three raider gang lived in that area, the Brotherhood captured or killed the raiders and forced them to become a town so their caravan route to Lance and Vendetta would be complete. Things have fallen apart without the Brotherhood had stopped guarding the town it has fallen into slums ruled by five gangs, the largest gang before the Brotherhood had broken down into three smaller gangs. It's one of the most unsafe settlements in the MW. They wish to make themselves safer.

UPDATE Spring made a deal with the Communist Republic of Detroit for vehicles, they also made deals with Gale for Yao Gaui trainers and weapons, and they made deals with Talon Company for men and equipment.

Jacks (N/A)
A small farming town that is being controlled by a dictating group of nightkin. They need support in overthrowing their oppressors to reclaim their small but resourceful town.

Odin (N/A)
A small but deceptive raider gang persuaded the others to unite against the Communist Republic of Detroit when they came to take over Odin (London, Canada). They have constantly repelled the attempted annexation. They are now a settlement but, although rude to untrustworthy outsiders, are very civilized. If you help an ex-merchant who is really a CRD operative to be elected their next ruler than they will be annexed by the CRD which will cause them to expand even further east until they border Ronto. They wish to free themselves from the war with the CRD.

The New Kingdom- hircine21
After the Great War a tribe that was run by a monarchy settled in the MW. When the Brotherhood was the strongest faction on the planet they had annexed that tribe, bringing them to their standards of living. When the Brotherhood began falling apart the ex-tribe became free again and formed the New Kingdom, once again ruled by a monarchy but with some changes. Now civilians can vote a family out of power if 75% or more disapprove of their style of ruling and now the town militia is volunteer (it used to be a draft militia, before the Brotherhood that is).

The Pitt Empire- Sebor13
The Pitt has expanded their industry, made a cure that, although doesn't make people immune to radiation, makes them resistant. They now control all of western and centeral Pennsylvania as well as western West Virginia. They are currently at war with the Marauders. Ashur still rules and has been grooming a boy to take his place. He is from a settlement that was in a vault where the experiment was what the culture of vault dwellers would be like if they had no form of entertainment besides very detailed history textbooks. They now control the school systems of the Pitt.

The Marauders-
A united force of tribals and raiders who wish to remain independant from the Pitt Empire. They control eastern Ohio and are slowly losing to the Pitt.

Ronto-
A military dictatorship and a powerful fighting force stationed in what used to be Toronto, Canada. Ronot has no united culture and they only sweep through a land killing all hostiles, police the area to make sure they don't come back, and expand further. They control southern Canada all of the way up to and including Odin.

Now let's see how this goes. Oh and everything not listed can be made up as long as it's not ridiculous.

How similar is the Syndicate to the enclave? If they are close I'll take them.

Well they're more like the gangs the Enclave controlled in Fallout 2.

They listen to the Enclave but act more like a criminal organization.

MWBoS under General Barnaky :foodndrink:

Alright.

Gale is a more militaristic version of Shady Sands from Fallout 1.

By that I mean that they have a low wall around their settlement, enough guns for a militia, and have a small generator that produces power to the town but they are pretty much on the edge of becoming a tribe once more.

All towns that are independant are in a similar state.

Curse you Sebor! Curse you and your knack for making factions that are amazing! I can't decide if I will be The Radiation or The Communist Republic of Detroit. So I shall let random numbers be the decision maker.

EDIT: Alright so I got an even number so that means you can sign me up for the Communist Republic of Detroit.

For the people!

Not really, sorry.
The closest you could get to acting like the Enclave is the Brotherhood but they're already taken.

Perhaps another faction that, although different from the Enclave, is to your liking?

Really, you like them that much? Thanks!

And I thought I was the only person who would like the Radiation. I like all things I create. I can't hate the antagonist of a short story I write because he's my own creation.

And I'll add you as the CRD, they're a pretty interesting faction with all of the cars they build from raw materials and how they're relatively neutral to everybody else.

Hi Sebor, I'm loving these factions and I have a strange feeling that this is kind of going to become the Fallout Board's own Immortal Blood.
Great Work!

I was torn between The Radiation and Talon Company, so I did a coin toss.

Heads - The Radiation
Tails - Talon Company

Got heads, so Radiation it is.

Thanks but what's Immortal Blood?

Alright, I'll mark you down.
I'm suprised so many people didn't write off the Radiation as the new Unity-Enclave-Legion. Perhaps it's because they're retaliating against all humans?
