The Midwestern War

Right. This is probably gonna be a very controversial story as it is gonna be based on Fallout: Tactics, however, multiple things will be changed. Firstly, the weapons will be based off of weapons that were either used in the originals and Tactics or just rifles from any of the games that I think would have been found in the Midwest. The Midwestern armor, however, will remain the same as not everyone is gonna have Power Armor and they wouldn't trust tribal Initiates with Power Armor. Oh, and the vehicles will be fusion powered but vehicles will be involved as, to me, they are the trademark of the Midwestern BoS.

Also, this is about a war between the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel and Caesar's legion. As both factions have been proven as canon in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I personally believe that there must be some confrontation between the two. A user posted map on The Vault wiki also supported this idea as it showed Vault 0 just a little inside Midwest BoS territory with the Legion right next door and I don't believe they'd allow that.

So... this is the war that ensues.

Prologue

"The reason troops slay the enemy is because they are enraged."
-Sun Tzu

"Alright you rad-rubbing, hip-slapping, Brahmin-kissers, listen up! I am Knight Jonah Orion and I will be leading you Initiates into battle against those bull-loving, slave-running, men-kissing, backward savages to the west of our territory."

The Knight's voice echoed off the walls of the cramped APC. The Knight, wearing Brotherhood Metal Armor, held a FN FAL in his hands, resting it on his lap. The four Initiates around him were wearing the less-protective Leather Armor, the Brotherhood emblem being a prominent feature on the right pauldron, and wielded P90c SMGs with one having a Hunting Rifle on his back for marksman duty and the only female having a Pancor Jackhammer shotgun on her back for trench-clearing duty. The squad was shaken about in their seats as the APC thundered along the makeshift road to the frontlines of what was being called the "War of the Bull".

The APC was not alone, however. It was but one vehicle in a convoy that stretched along the road for half a mile. The convoy consisted of mostly Hummers and APCs, however a squad of three tanks were leading the long convoy down the road. Unlike the vehicles used by the Warrior and his comrades, these vehicles were modified. Each Hummer and APC now sported a Heavy Machine-Gun on their roofs with the top half of a soldier being seen out of the hole drilled into the roofs to allow him to man the gun.

At first, the war was going in their favor, the melee armed Legion soldiers were quickly cut down by the Brotherhood's advanced firepower and the Centurions were overpowered by the Power Armor wearing Paladins. Soon, however, Conventional Warfare turned to Guerrilla Warfare as the Brotherhood continued their push Westward. Landmines, IEDs, ambushes, all were common as the Legion soldiers tried to adapt to their new adversary.

The city of Denver was the exception to this Guerrilla War. Surrounding Denver were trenches and mazes of debris, both naturally and deliberately assembled. The Legion savages had adapted quickly when it came to defending the major city and the use of firearms, and heavy weaponry, became common sight among their ranks. No longer was it reserved to the higher ranking individuals. The Legion leadership had realized that if they did not adapt and allow gun usage than they would be trampled by this "Eastern Scourge".

As the convoy closed towards Denver, the booms of artillery fire and tank cannons could be heard and gunfire filled the gap between the loud, concussive, booms. One of the lead Hummers pulled over into a ruined fuel station. As the rest of the convoy continued speeding past them, the passenger door sung open and a soldier wearing full Power Armor stepped out. The large shoulder pads and horned helmet had become a symbol for the Brotherhood. The cloth that was wrapped around the shoulder pads and hanging down past his waist from his left pad were colored a blood red to resemble his squad's colors. His squad being one of the few now around that sported their own, unit only, colors.

The armored man stepped up to a brochure categorizer that stood outside the station. In it was a lone, tattered brochure that flapped gently in the breeze. Plucking the brochure from the holder, the Paladin started back to the Hummer, looking through the brochure as he did. The Paladin, after opening the door, stepped into the idling vehicle, causing it to tilt to one side from the weight, and took his seat, closing the door when he did.

"Anything good?" the driver asked as he pulled in behind the last vehicle of the convoy, still heading towards Denver.

"No, just this" the Paladin replied, flashing the cover of the brochure to the driver. It showed a happy family of three, the mom, father, and son, in their yard with the caption "Come visit Denver: The Friendliest City in the Midwest". Behind the family was a nice pre-war house with grass and a swing set. The driver scoffed as his passenger rolled down the armored window and tossed the brochure out before rolling back up the window. The brochure fluttered down to the side of the road, landing next to a burlap sack. Visible in a hole of the sack were two wires, one green and one red with a red light softly flashing under them.

One look at Denver now and you'd see that it was not at all what the brochure advertised. The skyscraqers were in disrepair and in the process of crumbling back down to Earth with some having fires blazing up high from an exploded fuel source. The houses that weren't flattened by the nukes of the Great War or by the rockets, tank shells, and artillery barrages of the current war sported big holes, were charred, and had their paint flaking off the sides and shingles missing from the roofs.

With the Great War and now the Brotherhood and Legion battling in the suburbs, the "Friendliest City" seemed more like a living hell and it would prove to be one for the multitude of soldiers ready square off in the Capital City of the Pre-War state of Colorado.

Life in the Legion, and the west, is about to change forever.
