the minutemen and the railroad..

I'm finding it extremely hard to actually complete a playthrough with either of these factions, both come off as boring and both have huge blaring faults to them.

The Minutemen, good in concept but easily corruptable. Without the Sole Survivor, they would most likely become what they had become before and once again destroy themselves. Not to mention, they are the most boring faction whom give you repetitive quests, and they even have the most boring characters.

The Railroad, once again decent in concept (if you believe synths are equal to humans... which I dont neccesarily agree with) but once you complete their questline, their reason for being in the world is gone. They will break apart as their goal will have been completed.

So for those of you who have done these playthroughs.. what was your incentive because I definitely need one.

I ended up choosing the Minutemen because they seemed most likely to lead to the people of the Commonwealth getting a say in their own future. That is not what the Brotherhood or Institute want and as you note the Railroad has a very limited scope. It almost seems artificial to me to suggest (as the game does) that freeing the synths can only happen with the Railroad. That's not to say the Minutemen don't have their own issues, but that is how I justified it. I think the developers wanted there to be no easy solution so they all have their flaws.

The Railroad still has a lot to do after the ending, although they do tend to be more open about fighting for acceptance of Synths.

That said though, they are quite supported by the Minutemen, and I tend towards thinking that (under player character influence), they may morph into a branch of the Minutemen. The reason I say this is because of all the factions, the MM are the most tolerant, more interested in self-determination and combining resources for the common good. Plus, following a RR ending, you tend to see pro-RR graffiti and flags appearing all over the place, even in MM settlements...plus, Freedom Radio says a few things about them.

Personally, if I was running the MM, and maintained solid links into the RR, I'd want them working together...there's significant advantages and few if any drawbacks.

i sided with the MM because i didn't want to destroy the brotherhood or the railroad. remember most of MM's quest are just a way to level up and gain more perks. the same for the brotherhood. if you don't to do those radiant quest, just send P to a settlement that you don't visit often.
