The Minutemen are unrealistic x2

To be fair, the Survivor can correct that mistake.

The point was that the tech the BoS seeks is the kind that DESTROYED the world to begin with. Plus, right now, the tech needed to rebuild is farming and water purification tech. Y'know, the tech needed to grow food and get purified water.

Farming and water purification don't stop no Super Mutants!

:)

I admit, there is an irony the Brotherhood of Steel is the kind of group which actually USES the weapons they want to stop against both the Enclave and Institute.

And energy weapons and power armor do not grow food for people to survive on. You can kill super mutants with regular guns (just need a lot of bullets, or a few well-placed sniper shots).

But this is off-topic. The minutemen's goals are realistic, but the game makes them out to be more powerful than they really are.

The BOS's lost leadership led to them using zerg rush tactics, If Elder Maxson was in charge he'd have disabled the artillery stations, and gotten the heck out of range with his ship.

Fact is that you win because of an unprepared sneak attack the minutemen were only using artillery for the benefit of the commonwealth and suddenly attacking the BOS was unexpected, in fact if the minutemen are hostile with the BOS the BOS attack first to try to take out the artillery batteries before they can be brought to bear like at Fort Strong.

If they fail its because the PC fortified the place well enough to push the BOS out.

The BOS realistically ought to equip all their verti'es with paladins then drop them ODST style on their enemies then get their birds out of range of anti-air. But its just a game.

The Minutemen might have guns actually tough enough to penetrate Power Armor, Gauss Rifles and Laser Muskets. But any victory needs to be due to the PC equipping them or numbers realistically speaking.

Super mutants already pushed the BoS out of the capital wastelands, they are more than just an annoying pest, they are an army and we need every edge we can get or they might overwhelm us.

In the previews Fallout games clean water was a big deal -radioactive isotopes aren't much bigger than water molecules, so filtering them out is pretty hard-, but here you can just build an water pump and everyone is happy.

My point is that the tech of the BoS could help the people get clean water.

Not really. You need water purifiers, and technology like that is not the goal of the Brotherhood. They only care about the kind of technology that kills people. You do not need them to use that tech to do anything. simple as that. They are a waste of human life just going around stealing from people that actually NEED the tech.

Even those who are human but not in the BoS are "not human" as they are not part of the BoS.

Well that's an interesting theory you have there, but do you a have any proof that the BoS considers outsiders are "not human"?

Considering that the only BoS group to actually help the wasteland was Lyons' group that then went back to the traditionalist "give up tech to us" mentality...

The Brotherhood thinks outsiders are human. They just think they're savages.

There's a difference.

To those saying the BOS would wipe the floor with the Minutemen, we're talking about the same BOS who get a vertibird shot down by bandits every 30 minutes? Just wanted to be sure.

Why do the same Minutemen quests keep popping up over and over. Preston keeps asking me to help the same communities, over and over. Honestly, I feel once or twice is enough.

That's just weak. Not at all does it prove that they consider other humans as "not human".

Most people don't care about a lot of other people, but that doesn't mean they consider them as "not human"

Eh, it seems more like a topic for the BoS thread.

Besides, it's not exactly up for debate as the Mojave and Western BoS believes this while the Eastern don't.

Unrealistic? No, unrealistic would be if they dealt with the Brotherhood by taking control of the USS Constitution and use it to engage the Prydwen in an epic airborne naval battle. In fact, I totally wish that was in the game.

Dammit, now so do I.

I also want a variant on the Desert Ranger combat armor for the Minutemen.

Now that you mention it, the minutemen general's outfit looks like a ranger combat armor, kind of. Would like more, however.

I'm actually kind of annoyed the Minutemen don't have a cool Fallout origin.

I wanted it find out they were a bunch of Revolutionary War reenactors trapped in Breed's Hill when the bombs fell.

What it really needs is a Desert Ranger/NCR Ranger/Riot Gear helmet with the Minutemen General's tricorn worn over it. It'd both look amazing and, unlike the regular Minutemen General Hat, would offer decent head protection.
