The Mistake of Covenant

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2015 4:38 pm

Hello all. I have this issue: i came to Covenant while explorating, so i saw all those turrets and a big wall. I thought that it was a city under raider's control, so i killed all the inhabitants and turrets. My question is: are the Npcs in this city important? I mean, anyone of them give a good quest or... whatever? Thank you in advance.

There is a quest for covenant, but it bugged on me so I'm not sure what the possible outcomes are, in the end the town turned hostile towards me so I lobbed an artillery grenade over the wall. If you want to go to the quest location if you look across the lake after you exit covenants main door you'll see some sewage pipes, investigate those.

If you hadn't killed covenant you would have found some guy in there (forget his name) looking for info about a missing caravan and in particular one npc, he recruits you to do the quest, once you find out where to look as you go to leave you'll have a speech check with one of the named npcs in covenant who will, if successful, tell you where to go and that he'll let the guards know to expect you. I got there and the guards were hostile, long story short, they all died, talked to the doctor she told me I had ruined everything and that she wouldn't beg for her life. Left her in there surrounded by corpses, freed the prisoner went off and did something else, happened by chance to be wandering past covenant a few days later and they got a bit pissy, hence the arty grenade.

Got a settlement with a nice pre made wall around it though I suppose

Covenant would make a nice settlement just because it's really clean. I unlocked it quite a while back, but I haven't done much of anything there yet. The vendor there sells a few really nice legendary pieces too, including Destroyer's Helmet which is a legendary Combat Armor Helmet with +1 Charisma and +1 Intelligence. You can buy it prior to completing the Human Error quest, and after the Human Error quest depending on the choice you make there. It's a great helmet though. It's what I use all the time ever since getting it.

I chose to side with the doctor in Human Error, so all of the original NPCs are still in Covenant. I'm considering dismissing my companions and heading there by myself to kill all the NPCs there. They're getting annoying and I'm tired of them taking up all of the space there lol

That quest was interesting, it matched my character perfectly, and it was fun, it had some choices in the end as well, it was not just about shooting everything.

Ok, so i suppose nothing of "big" come from those npcs... except those legendary pieces. Not a big issue for a pc user

Actually it is like most quest in the game: either you are a "Yes man" or either your have to kill everyone.

Fallout 4 isn't a game where you can talk your way through or do things really stealthy.

The only problem is that getting this settlement by force will make it bugged as hell.

They were 9 potential free settlers, with a general store merchant and a doctor in the mix.

The Covenant decision tree for the mission required a difficult moral choice either way you went- it forced you to make a definitive moral stand about synths one way or another and back it up with violence or willful inaction.

Also, there's some info you discover that might give clues as to who's really doing most of those kidnappings in the commonwealth, so if you have a game save to go back and do it over again, it helps flesh out the story a little.

its got a cool detective like quest with as others mentioned, a moral dilemma at the end. With the choices I made, Covenant is now a place I send my followers to since for some reason you can't send them back to their original home.

this is the spoiler section?

anyway I will say I was sort of expecting this place to end up being full of cannibals instead of anti synth fanatics.

Covenant bugged out on me. After joining the minutemen, all original settlers were mute.

I didn't side with the doctor. They turned hostile and I killed them all. For some reason the mechanic chick really pissed my character, Hannah, off when she was nice before and then shot at her. So in the end Hannah showed her who the real [censored] was and stuck her severed head on top of her old workbench for decoration.

Because you think it is normal that simple villagers doesn't give up arms against someone who just single handely killed every armed guards of their secret base (even worst if you have powerful allies like the BoS or the minutemen)?

Or that they "have to" know it is your fault about what happened in their secret base.

This game doesn't know how to be subtle about choices, that's just it.

There is a possible tie-in if/when you sign up with the RR later. Your actions at Covenant are dropped into the conversation by a third party.
