The Modern Adventurer Volume 6

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:35 am

Has anyone ever tried this one out before, and if so, what exactly is it like throwing it into a game?

It can be found here at Elric: http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=770

Thanks for any comments and opinions

I remember playing this years ago. And really liking it. IIRC, I started with volume 4. The idea was that it would be a regularly updated mod (made it to 6) and each update would mean a new edition of the Modern Adventurer had been published.

It's a pretty entertaining, light mod. You can go and see the MA's offices and talk to some of its editors and contributors (some of whom should be familiar to a lot of people), as well as read the Modern Adventurer itself. The text was pretty light-hearted but also led to some rather interesting quests.

The one shame was that the mod was set-up in such a way that it was assumed you'd read all previous editions, it would've been good if when first loaded only version 1 was available and then over time more were made available.

I'd recommend it.

Awesome, though I suppose I will need to tweak it as per your suggestion for my uses. Thanks much Dragon

I have it loaded in my current game. So far I've only read the books, some of which contain some very amusing stuff.

WARNING:

This mod conflicts with the linking passageway from Unique Jewelry & Accessories in the Foreign Quarter Canolworks. I moved the Modern Adventurer offices to other side of hall.

It also conflicts with Vality's Ascadian Isles mod at a dungeon next to Theodistyr Coppersmith due to terrain changes. I added some rocks around the door so it wasn't just sitting in space.

I'll have to look into the UJA conflict, but I don't use Vality's AI mod (I run Vurt's in regards to tress, so only have Vality in BC still), so that shouldn't be a problem, but who knows, it might conflict there too, so I will take a peek at least. Thanks for the heads up.
