The Morrowind Awards # 1 : Coolest NPC

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:20 am

Welcome everyone to the first installment of The Morrowind Awards.

Our category for today will be "Coolest NPC".

But let us not keep you waiting, here are the nominees.

Jiub
"Let this just sink in for a while: He drove the freakin cliff racers, all the freakin cliff racers from Vvardenfell. "

Barenziah
"How many Kings would let their mother meddle in their affairs? The correct answer is none and yet she is still doing it. "

Diavyth Fyr
"It is one thing to be about as old as the Tribunal but the Telvanni practically begging you to lead thim and still denying takes the word badass to a whole other level."

Tharsten Heart-Fang
"This guy is the leader of the skaal. The undisputed hardest men of the Elder Scrolls and he is their leader? That is like throwing a bunch of rocks in a box and a year later one of the rocks, which was somehow even harder than the others is wearing a crown and yelling commands well that rock is Tharsten."

Duke Vedam Dren
"Basically Duke Vedam Dren is the closest to a 'Big Boss' that we had in the original game. Just think about it. When your character was finally powerful enough to build a fortress he still had to ask this Guy's permission. "

Orvas Dren
"Who has two bodyguards appearing out of nowhere, almost as many loot as Divayth Fyr and influences nearly everyone? If you said Orvas Dren then you win a cookie."

Caius Cosades
"Caius Cosades is the Grand Spymaster of the Emperor's KGB. He is in other words the master of the spies and we all agree that spies are awesome, right?"

Gentleman Jim Stacey
"I have always wondered why he was called 'Gentleman' but then I suddenly realized that it was the Dunmeri equivalent of saying that someone is full of awesome."

Eno Hlaalu
"What makes this guy awesome is that he is the only real assassin master we have. He is an assassin but yet follows a strict code of morals and stuff which somehow makes him one of the more 'good' characters which is very very cool and also stylish ofcourse as is everything Eno Hlaalu does."

M'Aiq The Liar
"There are not many people that can talk a bunch of nonsense somewhere on a rock in the ocean and still have some of their ramblings turn true."

Wulf
"Wulf somehow found a way to be even closer to Godhood than Divayth Fyr by being the freakin avatar of freakin Tiber Septim."

Gaenor
"Most characters on this list will not fight the player under normal circumstances but hell yes Gaenor will. In fact he will slowly walk towards you, throw down the gauntlet and proceed to break all your bones in no time at all."

P.S. : I had actually written a whole introduction for the nominees but it all bugged out. :sadvaultboy:

Divayth, I think it's a no contest. He is in some ways associated with a more ruthless faction (Great House Telvanni- also my favorite faction of all time) yet he is the farthest thing from ruthless himself. In addition to being an extremely heavily armored caster he also seems to be one of the most powerful mortals in all of Morrowind. Plus he knows a lot of stuff.

No Baladas Demnevanni? No Crassius Curio? I'm afraid I have to abstain.

Crassius Curio is in no way badass or cool. He is ridiculous to the point of funny though.
Baladas Demnevanni would be a good choice but he is in many ways just another Fyr.

Mmh, no Uncle Crassius means no vote from me. :<

Besides, this voting format always closes so many good options out. How about a reply-only topic?

I will be sure to select the nominees for the next contest this way.

He is not really an NPC so if I included him I would have to include the Tribunal too and Dagoth Ur and so on

People tend to underestimate him, I guess. He is an excellent political schemer.

Anyway, this would be my vote, so I will abstain.

I don't see why people are voting for Jiub.
He is in the game for 30 seconds.

Yes... I know what he does with the cliffracers, but that is from Oblivion.
In Morrowind, he's just a prisoner with nothing to say.

I liked reading all of the captions for the people, very interesting. Gotta go with Jiub though, because I never knew he was referenced throughout the elder scrolls games. Plus I always thought it was pretty much the most badass and hardy guy i met in my Morrowind travels.

No Crassius Curio? He was amusing plus his works were great. If they created a full Lusty Argonian Maid i would probably read it

Lifts-Her-Tail: You embarrass me, sir!

Crantius Colto: Fear not. You are safe here with me.

Lifts-Her-Tail: I must finish my cleaning, sir. The mistress will have my head if I do not!

Crantius Colto: Cleaning, eh? I have something for you. Here. Polish my spear.

Lifts-Her-Tail: But it is huge! It could take me all night!

Crantius Colto: Plenty of time, my sweet. Plenty of time.
