*looks around the forum - yes, still in the Morrowind Mods forum*

Ummm, yea, the community is alive and well. If you want to mod for the game, do it up.

Nope, the morrowind mod forum is dead. There are no new WIP posts in over 2 months, most large scale projects are dead and the hopes of TR releasing another map all faded when the team flew to iceland to have a volcanoe party.

Lol, only joking.

The morrowind mod forums are still alive! The modding community, while slow of late, is still active.

Good sites to check for recent mods include planetelderscrolls and TESnexus.

Plus just checking this forum everyday will also keep you updated on whats new!

No, the community died a few years ago. All the posts you see are actually from Bethesda employees who make them so that the few who still mod Morrowind can feel better about not moving on to inferior other games.

:hubbahubba:

Actually the community is still very much alive. As for websites, check out http://www.fliggerty.com

Look at all the new WIPs and releases, and updates to existing projects. It's far from dead, and full of innovative projects (MW Graphics Extender updates, the MW Code Patch, The Census&Excise Office ...).

Heck, yeah, it's still alive. I only just started modding this year even though I've been playing the game off and on since it came out. Modding is a great creative outlet once you get into it. I still think this is the best RPG ever.

Morrowind is still the most flexible and modable game RPG I have found. (Fate is also very easy to mod, but it is a dungeon crawl only.)

And older modders do come back sometimes too. Though some seem gone for good sadly...

It is alive, well, and attracting new members, of which I am an example.

Hellz yeah! It'll never die, are you kidding me? I say that with confidence, because it would take a better game to kill it off, and that's not going to happen.
Once you feel pretty confident with CS basics, volunteer yourself for one of the gigantic mod projects out there.

Not sure what you are asking for?

If you are looking for community support in learning how to script, texture, build and improve on modding skills then the community is still going strong and has many very experienced modders willing to provide helpful advice - the Construction set forum doesn't move very fast so you won't necessarily get a reply in 5 minutes let alone in a day however in my experience when you do get a reply it is exactly what you need.

Outside of the official forums Fliggerty's is dedicated to modding and active, other forum's are Emma's, princess_stomper's and Canadian Ice's site all have minimal MW modding activity but some excellent older threads on modding that can be very useful to read - some modders keep their WIP threads running on these satellite sites - either they have advlt content not suitable for this forum, nostalgia or it's just easier to keep track of (not to mention forum reading legibility). There are other sites around such as Tamriel Rebuilt and the LGNPC team - the Tamriel site has an excellent name generator I use all the time.

However if you are asking about the Morrowind modding fan base and wanting to know if anyone will ever play your mods or whether you will get pages upon pages of congratulations on how wonderful your mod is then that's a different answer - gamers are still downloading mods all the time but as the game is no longer on the game store shelves the audience for Morrowind is diminished. Even the most popular recent mods are numbering in the 1000's of downloads not the 10's of thousands from MW's early days.

So - yes you can get good community support here and elsewhere but if you want to mod for fame you have a smaller pool of people to gain your modding fame or infamy in compared to other games being modded right now :)

Morrowind is most definitely still alive and well. :) There aren't as many "new" players as there once were, but they are still coming.

If you need proof, check my sig. :)

Nope... nothing to see here ^_^

These forums aren't as fast as they used to be (back when all I did was lurk), but there are definitely still plenty of active modders, cool projects that I've been following, and an abundance of helpful people for any problems you may have. Good luck!

Indeed it is (active ;) ) ; personally, I've got a lot left to tackle (it seems) as I am never without ideas or or desires to add new things to the game: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/WAR_MISC_WIPZ_ATM.jpg

Goodness I hope so. I am still holding the hope of seeing a small mod with a seller of equippable drinking mead horns in Thirsk or Solstheim proper. Hey, he or she could even be straight from Skyrim, since Thirsk orders mead from the homeland.

yes it is still very much active. and one thing i have noticed lately. is that the quality of the more recent mods have increased by leaps and bounds. as there is more to build on for modders. so if you take a little time to look and see what is done and how. it gives you a far better base to start modding on then there used to be. above all have fun. and pay no mind to any naysayers. but pay attention to anything constructive from people who know how to mod. as you stick around you will get to know, or know of them. good luck

Are there any alternatives?

Oblivion? It is definitely more complex in all modding aspects. Are you ready to spend days/weeks in order to bring a simple sward in the game?

NWN/NWN2, Dragon Age? Check Nexus. Zillions of head morphs, few bodies, and one or two quest mods. Are you an expert in C++?

The Witcher? Do you have Max9?

Sims, Second Life? Shooters (HL2, FC, Quake, Unreal series, etc.)? That’s another genre.

MW is a unique game for modders-RPG fans. Believe me: I made a “deep” search. MW is obliged to be alive even if it wants to die.

And even if it died, the Empire hasn't outlawed Necromancy. :shifty:

I guess that explains why I've returned to modding after a gap of a few years. heh.

LOL! (Literally.) :D

I hope this one never dies. It's too much fun. And I think it's going to take me years to get all my ideas into mods.

It shouldn't matter whether or not it has a strong modding community. If you love a game then you'll find a way and have the motivation to get mods up and running. And yes, the community is still alive and I think is one of the better communities out there. You won't get flamed or attacked here. Its a very welcoming place full of mature individuals...sort of :).
