The most biggest likelyhood of dying in hardcoe mode is.....

Explosives, Big Guns, or energy weapons will MURDER you if your health is around 50%. Stimpacks won't heal you before you get your way out of trouble either.

Once again, hardcoe mode is not about difficulty. It's about having to keep track of a few extra details for the sake of realism and immersion.

Mind you, the health not recovering when you sleep or the difficulty in healing crippled limb does increase difficulty a little, but anyone playing hardcoe should already know to be careful.

In short, it doesn't make the game significantly more difficult, only more tedious. For some of us (including myself), the added immersion this creates is worth it.

I think most people playing hardcoe will still die from being in combat. The over time stim pack healing will be the biggest challenge I feel because short of running away you're pretty much committed to win or lose every fight based on whatever health and armour you have at the start not on how many stim packs you can chug while fighting.

While I expect dehydration and starvation to be prevelant I don't consider them a danger because only my neglect can create the issue.

Having had eat/drink/sleep modded into my FO3 for ages, I can say that those elements are not difficult to deal with. Food and water were pretty easy to find, and I could always chug some Nuka-Cola to stave off fatigue until I found a bed.

Food and water may be more scarce in NV, but I'm sure they will still be attainable, plus they've fixed the can't-sleep-in-owned-beds problem from FO3, so getting some sleep won't be such a pain.

Crippled limbs might be a considerable problem in NV HC mode, depending on how readily available Doctor's Bags are.

Death in hardcoe mode will arrive when you pick up a 30-06 Springfield cartridge, realise that the extra weight from this has rooted you to the spot and now made you unable to evade the unwanted attentions of a Golden Gecko....

Encumberment FTL.

This.

There are no Big Guns any more, they've been divided in to different categories now... I think.
