What?? are you kidding me? i thought hardcoe mode meant that you died forever, like in diablo 2

It'll be scary enough when you step on a mine in hostile territory and realize an arm and/or a leg is now useless until you find a doctor.

Not to worry. You'll be dead eventually.

However, the game WILL NOT LET YOU fast travel if it calculates that the time spent on the journey would kill you by depleting your meters. So if you try to fast travel with low meters, the game will basically say "No. Fast traveling will kill you right now. Go find food and try again."

What would really svck is if the game calculates that you have enough food and water to fast travel and allows you to fast travel. Then, you gain control of your character again to find your meter is so low that you die a few seconds afterwards. Or, you go to drink some water only to find that fast travel used up your last drop.

I'm really excited for hardcoe--I pre-ordered the classic pack so I could get that flask in which to store water.
My entire character build is centered around hardcoe mode.

My build is too, but I went with the Caravan pack for the binoculars. That way I can plan farther ahead and see threats from a distance. And to of course locate sources of liquid refreshment in the distance . . . little glass canteens of Nuka-Cola . . . :celebration:

Same here, and that the sturdy caravan shotgun is better for hunting than a 9mm.

Just to clarify, is hardcoe mode eating and drinking, or dehydration only? I'm think the hardcoe mode tutorial popup I saw in one of the gameplay vids only mentioned dehydration.

Eating, drinking, sleeping, ammo/chem weight, healing over time, less (or no?) healing from sleep, and crippled limbs require a doctor or a doctor's bag. I think that's everything.

I'm not sure, but I believe Sawyer mention something about 3 meters you had to watch in hardcoe Mode.

1 would be drinking or dehydration
1 would be sleep
I guess the other would be hunger or starvation?

Surely someone that has been following videos or has the guide can let us know.

The lack of instant healing will obviously be the biggest contributing factor. We'll probably end up running away from monsters, while our health is regenerating very slowly, on numerous occasions. Perhaps we'll be slowed down by broken limbs, too. If we're in hostile territory we might accidentally attract more monsters while fleeing. I expect to use the sneak and explosives skills far more frequently in preparations for fights, due to hardcoe mode.

As Jason Bergman said:
"hardcoe mode doesn't really affect the difficulty level. It makes the game more tactical. Difficulty level is scaled by....difficulty level"

Death in hardcoe mode will arrive when you pick up a 30-06 Springfield cartridge, realise that the extra weight from this has rooted you to the spot and now made you unable to evade the unwanted attentions of a Golden Gecko....

Death will arrive when:

you sneakily navigate to the 4th level of a vault using stealthboys and creeping, avoiding those nasties. Then you reach your goal, trip a tripwire, and with crippled limbs, almost 0 life, no stealthboys and no stimpacks, you realise you're going to have to limp back up those 4 levels of nasties and get out somehow...

Getting sneaked up on by a nightkin, all of a sudden you hear a boom and you lost half your health.

Idk if this has already been posted, I didn't read every reply, but isn't hardcoe the same as FO3 and then survival mode, u just find food and water? (I know thats what survival mode is.) But you do get swarmed with enemies early in the game in FO3, because if you go straight to Rivet City, and do the quest with the Dr., there are Super Mutants all over the place and i was only level 5.
EDIT: Wow, hardcoe is a difficulty, my bad.

No. No it is not.

hardcoe Mode should be called survival mode. It adds requirements for drinking, eating, and sleeping. Stimpaks heal over time, and you must use a doctor's bag or visit a doctor to heal crippled limbs. Ammo has weight. That is all that it changes.

hardcoe Mode is an option that can be used with ANY difficulty level, so you can play hardcoe on Easy, or Normal, or Hard, or Very Hard - whatever you wish.

And perks like Lead Belly may be worth something in hardcoe Mode now. Providing Radaway isn't still absurdly abundant.

i love the idea of hardcoe mode, in FO3, who even ate the food or drank water much? no, you just used stimpaxs to heal. This is going to feel pretty close to what it would really feel like, doing anything to get your hands on food and water; I know I am doing hardcoe
