well this has been discussed enough for the ages, how about a few suggestions for a fix?

to be honest alot of the dialog issues can be resolved right now as in the repetition and the inaccurate descriptions,I've seen nothing thus far that can tend to the recognition issue, and thats in Beths Ballpark entirely really. thing is, Console users who care are SOL.

TomSaywer is right. These annoyances are a pain that seriously damages the otherwise realistic feeling of role-play. And it's been around sense Oblivion, at least. My thief character always gets to hear from the barkeeper in the Ragged Flagon: "It's one thing to say you've got the skills to be a thief, It's another to actualy use them." This despite the fact that I'm the guild master! And then those damn guards commenting on skills you've never cared for. Once you've maxed the skills you care about you may want to continue to level and the only way is then to level in other skills. Doesn't mean you want recognition for them! Not if they don't depict your character. It's just wrong. Period. I hoped this would have been removed when Skyrim came but instead it's worse than ever - those guards now comments when your skill is much lower than what was needed in Oblivion.

This is a fine example, i wear daedric armor.
But none of the guards seem to notice it, they act like they see it everyday.
maybe if they said something like this:''Did you took that armor from a daedra? By the gods i wish i had one of those.''

You know, I kinda find it funny how many people complain about voice repetition, then you clearly haven't played much games.

RTSs, RPGs... basically any game with voice acting. At least in Skyrim everybody repeats different stuff.

The problem with faction recognition is that there are no actual ranks in any of them. When you take the title of head of a faction, its only actual use is in the portion of the script that removes the ownership tag from the previous title holder's personal space, and even then it's checking the quest stage rather than the rank itself. Unfortunately, fixing this would require completely restructuring how the guilds work, which I don't see them ever doing as it's a lot of work.

Skill-based comments, on the other hand, should have had their threshold set much higher than they currently are, since between racial bonuses, books, and quest rewards, you can get a skill to 30 without ever actually using it. The 'limited time' excuse doesn't apply in this case either, since it would have taken them a handful of seconds to change the appropriate setting.

Nah it would only take one variable
if (grandmaster_of_Companions==1){GuardSayOtherStuff();}

Also I get why they've lowered the minimal skill for those, it's for better recognition for your class. I actually liked it how the game recognized I was playing a thief at the beginning and the guards acted that way.

I was thinking of this just the other day. It really does svck but i think it's because you can only program so much into the ai and the world around them or because Bethesda is lazy.
Im the harbinger of the companions and the idiotic guards would always say "Hey aren't you that new member of the companions? So what do you fetch the mead?".

Had this happen to me. one of many stupid things in this game.

I think it's better to remove those kind of dialogues then to do absolutely nothing...

You'd also have to get it to recognize and accept said rank, since currently it doesn't exist. It does seem simple, granted, but when you look at dialogue and quest structure you quickly discover there's a lot more involved in adding a faction rank than one might think. Your example would be completely correct for a preexisting rank, though, since then all you'd need is the proper condition check.

I wish it were that simple, though, because then I would have already fixed it.

I admire you. It takes a real badass to believe in his character when, as the Archmage of the College, he's being advised by a member of the College to sign up for some lessons. At the College.

Or when you, as an Officer in the Stormcloak army, are being dressed down by a Stormcloak. Soldier.

Or when you, as the Harbinger of the Companions, are being told by an ordinary Guard, who obviously is aware of the only other military organization in his hold, that you must be *that* useless new guy.

Teach me, master. I want to bolster my immersion.

For Morrowind and Oblivion it was the periodic lag on the console. For Skyrim it's the "unfinished" feeling.

I find it annoying that just because my character is a Nord, just because she's found 4/5 Two-Handed skill books, just because she's used read the Path of Might in the Oghma Infinium, doesn't mean she is going around using Two-Handed weapons. The skill is at 34. Her One-Handed is 100. All I ever hear is, "The gods gave you two hands and you use them both for your weapon, I can respect that." I do find it annoying that the comments are based off the skill being over level 30, would much rather hear stuff about skills I'm obviously using, based on equipment. And the extremely rare times I hear the One-Handed comment (something along the lines of not likeing the clunky two-handed weapons, they always end the comment with "like me") it is always from a NPC using a Two-Handed weapon.

Yup, i love the deep, meaningful conversations i can have with the NPCs. Like
"I work for Belethor, in the general goods store."
"I'm the Dragonborn, i kill dragons."

and

"Do you get to the Cloud District very often? Oh what am i saying, of course you don't."
"Do you get beaten up a lot? Oh what am i saying, of course you do."
