The Multiplayer War is Over...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:45 am

After reading the IGN interview with Todd, I am dissapointed. Thanks Todd for crushing my dreams of ever experiencing an amazing game such as the ElderScrolls with out a friend.

Dont Get me wrong, I will easily rack up months of gameplay, just like Oblivion. Oh well, just gotta wait.... another 5 years.

Hasn't that been the ONLY way of experiencing it?

Regardless, I've never liked the idea of multiplayer in TES. Too many games these days have an arbitrary multiplayer mode or just cater to that demographic as is. A dedicated single player game is exactly what I want. I have more fun playing by myself.

You're forgetting one thing here.
You can dual wield in Skyrim! Just invite a friend over, and have him control your characters left hand! Ta-da, multiplayer.

They have said before they aren't going into the online market until they cab have the full, complete single-player experience in an online world. With the sheer scale of land and quests, character customization and depth, we'd always have been waiting a few more years for this anyway.

All in all, I suspected this would happen.

I enjoy TES with a friend without playing together. We usually watch each other goof around and we always have a great time.

Stop acting like video games are a social event. If you had a life, you wouldn't have the time to play them.

T.E.S. shouldn't be a multiplayer game either... it just isn't meant to be, brotha.

lol this. Also, this is the kind of thing you just have to learn to live with. I am very happy there is no multiplayer because it would either be ridiculously lame like Fable or revolve more around that than the core gameplay and story like CoD or Diablo II. Don't get me wrong I play CoD and D2 when I am looking for either really simple fun (CoD) or mildly complex fun (D2), but when I want complex, challenging gameplay I want to rock it solo.

Maybe next time you want a multiplayer game, DO NOT wait for an elder scrolls game. It's actually quite (read: ridiculously) easy to do. Hoping for a TES main game to have multiplayer is like hoping for your dad to get pregnant.

To be honest, I'm learning C++ right now so that when the game comes out I can get into modding and hopefully do something MP via Steam. It's a pipe dream, yes, but I do at least want to put forward some concepts since I really think MP could work extremely well.

To build up false hope that beth for some unknown reason would leave their current model and make it a multilplayer game, only to be let down again?

TES was never meant to be MP. So I'm OK with those news.

On the other hand, a separate MMORPG based on TES universe would awake my curiosity...

Battlespire is a multplayer ES game. It still has a somewhat active community. I would recommend it, if you want to play TES multyplayer it is very fun. I hope they change their mind and add a Deathmatch Arena mode in Skyrim.

Good luck. People spent years trying to do this on Oblivion and could barely do anything with it. If you get anywhere with it I will be happy to give it a shot, I just don't want it in by default.

Honestly, I don't see why MP shouldn't eventually make its way into TES games. They couldn't be like Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim (not everyone can be the hero, after all), but they can certainly be just as amazing. I'd love to see how factions go about with multiple players actually making them up, among other things.

The true interaction of players over the internet is nowhere near as interesting or worthwhile than a story of factions going at it. especially when I have the op to effect outcomes..

This is turning into another multiplayer/co-op discussion. It may not be in Skyrim but if you want to continue talking about it. please use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1171828-official-discussion-of-multi-playerco-op-in-skyrim/.
