The mysterious sun fire seals

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:12 pm

Florentius in the Dawnguard says that Arkay talks to him, that the Old Dawnguard used to store its treasure in a hidden place protected by a seal and some kind of sigil , or the emblem of the dawnguard I can't quite remember. The treasure can be uncovered if the Sun Fire spell is used on those seals ... I've seen virtually nothing about this on google so , has anyone uncovered the secret yet ? Or is it just some schizophrenic gibberish ?

Gibberish.
I like to think of it as back story to help flesh things out a bit.

Well, I have been trying to keep an eye out, but I have never seen it. One would expect to find it in the dungeons added by the DLC, but I ain't seen it. Dead Drop Falls would be the most logical place, but I didn't see it there.

Then could you kindly post a location and spoiler mark it? Forgive me, but I remain skeptical that they actually exist. Seems to me there'd be a YouTube tutorial vid on where to find them by now, and there doesn't appear to be one from what I can see.

Well it should have been found by now I mean rarely can a location stay hidden for such a long time on the internet ...

But on the other hand , it's just obvious : Every one of the faction says that he's mad, and reverse psychology is often used in games , so he's obviously not insane and something is hidden ...

Unless we're just looking for something that was just made to add to the lore and not the gameplay ...

I am not teasing in the sense that I lie, but I am teasing you to explore the caverns in Fort Dawnguard. Just make sure to have Sun Fire with you ;)
I can say finding it involves a waterfall unless my memory have gone bad lately :)

No problem :) I don't want to just say where to find them and ruin the sense of exploration, so if you find them it would be nice if you'd coma back here and confirm that they exist. People might think I lie otherwise ;)

Don't waste your time. I don't need to explore it to know it'll be a fruitless endeavor. The fact that he won't post a spoiler and allow players decide for themselves whether or not they want to ruin their sense of exploration. The fact that no existing YouTube walkthrough of Dead Drop Falls or anywhere in Dayspring Canyon covers anything relating to "sun fire seals." And finally, the fact that no confirmation of this seems to exist anywhere on the web...

He's either lying, sorely mistaken, or he's miraculously the only player in existence to find the things.

I don't think Tdroid is lying, just mistaken.
Spoiler
There are no sun fire seals.
Florentius' comments are simply backstory fluff, nothing more.
What Tdroid is thinking of are the targets you shoot with the crossbow.
It'll open the path to so-so loot, not major riches hidden behind seals.
I think Tdroid was simply mistaken, that's all.

Or I happen to be telling the truth and honestly want to give hints so people can find it themselves, while still knowing it is not a search in vain.

They can actually be activated by the Sun Fire spell, though I didn't know you could use the crossbow as well.

What a ignorant, stupid, and rude comment.

Precisely how is it "ignorant, stupid and rude?" I said he's either lying, sorely mistaken, or correct (which seems unlikely). Granted, I'm leaning towards "lying" but you can hardly fault me given that none of the many thousands of other Dawnguard players have saw fit to confirm the existence of these things. I'm going with the evidence, and there's no evidence apart from one guy saying "Trust me."

How am I mistaken when none of the information I give is false?

Because Florentius talks about caches guarded by sigils that can be opened with the Sun Fire spell. Dead Drop Falls consists of archery targets (which are definitely not "sigils" by any definition of the term) that can be successfully activated by arrows and bolts.
