The mythical Shoe Thief of Morrowind?

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2015 12:51 pm

I was watching a debate about what defines an RPG unfold in the comments of a youtube video, and the subject came up about a player playing Morrowind that made news because he was so frustrated his beast-race character couldn't wear enchanted shoes, that he set about to steal all the shoes in the game.

I can't seem to find anything online detailing such a thing; no screen shots, no gaming blogs talking about the Shoe Thief of Morrowind, or much if any mention of a player making off with and collecting all the footwear in the game to make a giant trophy pile of shoes, and the event getting some rep online, or if it ever happened.

Did such a thing happen?

Is this just a myth for an origin story for how players collecting and hoarding junk items in huge piles became a thing?

Help?

Screenshots?

Stories?

Confirmation?

Thanks! :D

I've played a few characters that were obsessed with stealing one type of item and then hoarding them in a treasure cave.

one stole every light source that wasn't nailed down, candles, lamps, torches and hid them all at the bottom of a daedric ruin.

another stole every plate and bowl in the land and hid them inside a sunken ship

So I wouldn't be surprised if a jilted khajiit or argonian somewhere decided to steal every shoe they could find.

One of my characters collected lanterns and candles, and put them on the roofs of houses all over Balmora. It made the place look really magical at night. :)
