I would suggest that if you ned to save and quit to get off for the night, fast travel back to Riverwood.

Was on his way to defeat some rogue mages for the Companions, and was attacked by a wolf, he mightily slayed it with he bare hands, but alas, a mudcrab snuck up on him, ending his days.

This thread reminded me of all the naked Nords found in Morrowind.
My favorite being the one in Mournhold (I think) that says something like, "No. I am not drunk. No, a wizard didn't put a spell on me. Nor was I robbed. Can't a man just walk around naked without people assuming he was robbed or bewitched?!"

I'm going to try again, this time on novice difficultly, and see if the game really is playable naked.
Also I assume I can start again at riverwood? no point in going through the intro etc. again and again for each playthough, although I won't be able to change my name ( well without console commands)

It is playable. I'm on master, just got to level 2. You have to do a lot of running around, trying not to get hit. Incombat magic regen is a [censored]. It took me forever...but I'm still alive.
Yes, I address this in the latest rules.

The Naked Nord Challenge

Backstory: A seductive witch paralyzed you and stole all of your clothes! You are now out on your own, naked, weaponless, in the wilderness. But hey...look on the bright side- At least you're frost resistant!
Rules:
#1. Play as a Nord.
#2. You can never wear ANY clothes. (You'd best choose your hairdo well.)
#3. Dead is DEAD. (Poor naked Nord.)
#4. The only tools you have at your disposal are your own two fists and Restoration magic. No conjuring, no armor, no swords, no nothing else.
#5. You may pick locks, sell and purchase food and potions, etc. However, try not to do these things too much as to skew your level.
#6. You are allowed to use Battlecry and any dragons shouts you (miraculously) learn.
#7. Master difficulty (OH, the HUMANITY!!!) is suggested, as it will be ranked the highest on the scoreboard, though you may play on an easier one if you wish.
#8.You may recruit a companion/follower to help you "get your clothes back"... if you have the coin. (Extra "points" though, if you don't use a follower.)
#8-1.Don't just think you can sit back happily and watch your companion die; no pain no gain as they say. (If you don't get hurt you can't level up your only skill: Restoration).
#9. You are allowed to munch on alchemy ingredients and food as you find them...but no mixing potions for yourself.
#10. If you find a neat ring, you may wear it, but no enchanting one for yourself.
#11. See what level you can get up to!
#12. If you have any suggestions to improve upon this idea before people start, speak. I'm open.
Tips:
#1. The beginning is the hardest. Make sure you get plenty of potions as you go through Helgen.
#2. Make sure you activate the Mage stone!
#3. This is ridiculously hard until you get the first restoration perk...hang in there!
#4. Just because you can't wear armor doesn't mean you can't carry it...and trade for some potions, food, a night's rest, etc.
#5. You're going to die a lot in the beginning before you get a hang of the fighting style, so choose a save point after you get into Riverwood to be your DiD "respawn", if you will. Otherwise, it just gets WAY too obnoxious.

Says it's only available in HD, and that one has to upgrade to get that, can you stream it in a lower quality that's free?

It is free actually, you just have to download their little app. I believe if you switch the language from %#&#& down below to English a Download button will appear on screen.
