The neglected protectors of Skyrim. For those who wish long-

“There’s no more need to write
For The Elder Scrolls are written”
Yet the Skybound Skalds don’t listen
And their beloved remain unstricken

“Bring the key from your ancient barrow
For we are the end to all your sorrow”
Yet the Skybound Skalds don’t listen
For they see the sharp fangs glisten

Know that those you favor are bound
Deeds cause noises to become a sound
And the Skybound Skalds have spoken
The one who is many have awoken

The sleep of the serpent should befall
The serpent itself or none at all
Although mighty Sovngarde awaits
There is no need to quicken fates

See each hand filled with a tempered quill
So they may carve their poem at will
And the Skybound Skalds have sworn
That on each belt a quill be worn

The dusk bringers’ raids shall be met
With quills carving words in battle-sweat
The destroyers of skeever’s hunger will write
That they are bound to preserve and fight

And all the quills should join and pray
That the Skybound Stone be found someday
And if this stone is uncovered and chosen
Then all will be safer in the land of the frozen

“Strike the words from these halls
So none shall read the words of Skalds”
And the forgotten many lower their head
Forsaken are they and left for dead

Somehow the words had stayed
And their meaning conveyed
To one who saw their worth
And the hero stepped forth

As one of the many I declare unto all
I refuse to let even a single hand fall
Despite kennings and rhyme
The obscure wisdom is mine

I shall temper quills with hammer and spell
And give these out so our numbers may swell
All will have access to what I can share
And they will know the Skybounds’ care

I see the sharpened fangs of death
And I will not aide the serpent’s breath
That key will stay locked away
Until each hand’s prepared someday

I shall carve my poem with a careful quill
No blood of ours will be allowed to spill
I refuse to let our hearts be still
This is my choice this is our will

I vow this oath of binding to all
I will listen for my fellow’s call
As one of the many who are but one
The plans of attackers will be undone!

“You say you know and display no dismay
While I’ve yet to see what the words did say”
The one of the many then turned and said
We’re expected in the halls of the dead

“Perhaps the poems that are known
Somehow let one write their own”
The many of one looked up at this
For writing your fate is life and bliss

“Interesting words it seems to me
I know who’d solve this mystery”
The newly oath bound Skald then replied
I’ll give these words so meaning can’t hide

Within the bastions of the named
Live the heroes that aren’t famed
Some wear armor yet more wear clothes
Fearless they are against their foes

In the time before our bonds did sunder
Before the plans of war and plunder
Blessed were we with many and more
Now they’re scattered to camps of war

Few are those who remain and wait
To take up quills against their fate
If that doom has blood and bone
Then said fate can meet its own

As long as the quills that are worn
Are tempered by the Dragonborn
Then their fates can be rewritten
Carved on bodies of the smitten
