The First Nekkid Nord Challenge

Rules and Restrictions

THIS IS A DEAD IS DEAD COMPETITION AND DEAD IS DEAD RULES WILL BE AS DESCRIBED ON PAGE ONE OF THE DEAD IS DEAD THREAD.

Mods - Normal competition rules. Mods that give a player advantage are disallowed.

Difficulty is Master

No magic other than whatever the character is given by the game at the time of creation.

Shrine blessings are allowed (like visiting a shaman, eh? Paint yourself blue, charge into battle nekkid...)

No perks allowed in any skills whatsoever

No Alchemy - but you CAN eat ingredients and enjoy their effects

No Smithing

No enchanting

No armor or clothing (except a roughspun tunic or ragged trousers if you're either a puritan or a child)

No Shields

No companions allowed (other than ones temporarily assigned for quest purposes, and no abusing those guys to drag them around the country either. Especially that friggin dog Barabus. If you get Barabus, or Serana for instance, you go straight to the next stage of that quest, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

NO house building (safe storage can be found at various locations and used) We are Reavers, Rovers, and Nomads!

Horses are allowed, but no inventory usage for conveient horses.

Allowed weapons:

one-hand war axe, dagger, bow

Trading with found/purchased potions/poisons and mined ores ( no smelting mind).......is allowed.

Shouts are allowed.

You may do the main quest up to just after killing Mirmulnir and reporting in to the Jarl. Forget the Graybeards... what good are they, anyway? Buncha ol' fogies sitting around yelling at each other on a mountain top....

Quest lines disallowed:
College of Winterhold,
Thieves Guild,
Dark Brotherhood,
The Companions,
Civil war,
Bard's College,

You may do all other quests at your discretion, but I encourage you to just explore, do some dungeon diving, and above all, have a good time!

If there are any questions regarding these rules, please feel free to bring them up.

I don't want this to conflict with the main competition, so if anybody is still alive on the 12th of September, we will end this challenge then, and perhaps restart anew after the main competition if we so choose.

To enter this challenge officially, post your name, and your character's name, six, and race in this thread. Please feel free to post any backstories and updates in this thread. You can enter this challenge anytime up to noon Pacific time on September 8.

C'mon guys! We can't let Grits get a huge head start on us, eh? Let the challenge begin!

Ned son of Thed

Nord male

Quick question: I didn’t see No Smithing in the rules. Are you guys going to use Smithing?

Extra rules for Ned:

  • No lockpicking. Ned is not a thief. Besides, where would he carry lockpicks? I shudder to think.
  • No selling. He can buy potions and food with the gold he finds, but Ned is not a trader or merchant. He is a dude who lost his axe and decided that witches must have taken it.
  • No cities. Ned will go into Whiterun to fulfill the dragon-releasing quest, but then he will be busy searching for his stolen axe. Ned does not believe that witches live in cities.

Woo! :)

Whew! Thanks, neil. Looks like my guy will also be buying arrows.

Ned son of Thed made it to Riverwood with Ralof. The wolves bit the hells out of him, but he picked up a steel war axe on the way. It is not the axe he’s looking for, but he dropped Gunjar’s iron one and took it anyway. Its former owner won’t be needing it any more.

Can I keep the zero rated basic foot wraps that you start the game with. Seems to me You'd have some basic cloth to protect feet from abrasions when running about! Couldn't get any moccasins!

Woo hoo, welcome to Rick and Raven!

Ned son of Thed is at the doors of Bleak Falls Barrow. He had a joyful dance with bandit archers on the way up. I had forgotten just how nimble unarmored characters can be. Of course I’d feel a lot more comfortable with the reach of a great big battleaxe to keep the bad guys off of Naked Ned, but fast and furious is doing the trick so far. We’ll see if Ned can dance with the undead, or if one of these draugr will simply cave his head in.

Of course, he probably won’t make it through the swinging blades. I’m only about 50% on those.

Dang indeed. Since your not used to this kind of play Grits. Might it not be kind to just call that couple of hours a practice run and re start Ned in earnest. I mean it's not like we're gonna give you a penalty.........and it does seem like such a shame to be out before you've proper begun!

Neil's baby.......but it's not as good with two as it would be with three ;)

And I ain't a prude, but having a character running around naked with a full ( and very over sized ) erection... would have him dead before we left Helgen, cause I'd be laughing my fanny off. ... so pant's for my guy. I can never remember which one of the three versions of Better males has the underwear.

Welcome! Good luck, Hughe!

I'm a poker player... I think I've mentioned it before, and in poker tournaments there is often a one-time rebuy, so really I have no objection if a player who loses their character wants to restart. However... the cutoff for that would also be the same as the cutoff for new entry into the challenge. That is, Noon September 8th, Pacific time. Bear in mind that those who are already engaged with ongoing characters will have a pretty good head start.

Yeah, poor Ned got one shot off and then kill-camed before his axe-draw animation even started. :dead:

You’re right, Rick, I’m much more comfortable at Expert with a zero armor melee character. Master level and no armor means a summoner for me. :D I already started Ned 2, so I’ll just play him as a hunter in the regular thread under the same roleplay restrictions. He was too fun to give up on so quickly. It’s awesome to not have to loot everything. This time since he’s not in a contest I think I’ll let him take the Lord Stone.

Areial, what the heck!! I can assure you that Ned’s hammer was swinging low for the duration. :ooo: Good luck with Hughe, with or without pants.

Thanks, neil, but I had my chance! I’ll be rooting you guys on for the duration. :foodndrink:

Question: You say we may do the first parts of the MQ. Do I assume correctly that it's optional, and can be done when we choose? Because I'd like to get some Health on this sweet gentle lady ( :D ) before facing those swinging blades. I'm bad at timing 'em.

well...well... it's like this, carrying an axe or not, his sword would be pointing the way, like the needle on a compass. I tried finding a mod that added drawers, but evidently I have to change the version of the mod to actually make it work. I'm not all that good at 1h without a shield, so he may not live long anyway, but thank's for the luck he will need it.

Get the underwear version, there's a fully nvde, a slip and the underwear.

I use it, but I only use the mesh, vanilla body textures with the very hairy(And dirty) bodyhair for me. :P

Anyway I'm in.

Welcome Bettilda Boop and Gor! Good luck, guys!

I finally got Black Bear Smiling started, he's made to Riverwood, and survived his first night. Poor Bear got quite a shock when he exited the cave at Helgen. He and Hedvar ran squarely into a large pack of wolves that I thought were in a mod I had deactivated. In the spirit of competition, I played through them anyway, and Bear managed to survive... though not without a little panicked flight, eh? :D

Now I'm wondering whether to deactivate the mod (SkyTest), or let it stand. What do you guys think?

I changed it to the "default underwear" and have the black speedo's with his sword poking out of the sheath...which look's funnier than if he wasn't wearing drawers at all. I'll fix it next character, for now he can wear pants.
